Emirates shameless efforts to "steal" Qantas top flyers

and you still haven't. Nowhere in my post do I complain about the upgrade. In fact my post contains no complaints at all. I suggest you re-read and you will see that I am commenting with interest on the implications for the relationship between EK and QF of EK (possibly) targeting QF top flyers for conversion

If you hadn't been upgraded to F would you still have commented on their "shameless behaviour"? The two seem explicitly linked.

Interesting experience. My view is that in this case at least, the insistence to sign up to emirates might have been a little much, but most flyers couldn't just be Skywards members as you need to book domestic legs as part of international journeys to get the credit for them.

I could see this tactic poaching some big spenders internationally flying West, but not so likely East and not domestic. It's a gamble but the best bet has always been to credit where you get the most value, such that you have multiple program's. Not the case for me though :p

I suspect EK does know the difference between WP and WP1. As far as oneworld is concerned Emerald is Emerald and there's nothing higher than that.

In my experience, there is no recognition of P1 by EK. Boarding pass says platinum, even when using a QF flight number. Seat selection is poor (I get more options when I switch to my skywards FF#) and QF can do nothing to help with seat selection - in fact at Heathrow when I was flying on a EK plane with a QF flight number, they sent me to the EK counter to change my seat as QF couldnt help (I was allocated middle seat for the first time in years). I would say not treated any better than a non FF. A few EK staff have however asked why I dont switch to EK.

I have also been asked by a few EK staff

The QF seat selection is a pita but can be worked around by using the EK site. In my experience as a WP on EK couldn't be different. I was treated a lot better than expected. Would have though that P1 was shown, but obviously only going to give WP treatment.

What I meant was that seats were showing as occupied (blocked) when using my QF FF# but were available using Skywards - i.e. preferential treatment to EK FFs. When I asked QF to switch me from a middle seat, they could see available seats but werent able to move me to them. They said this is the same with all code-shares (i.e. EK is treated the same as any other code-share)
