Hi All,

I tried to find the answer in the FAQ and on this forum but cannot find a definite answer.

I am QF Gold and will be flying QF309 - QF marketed AA operated. I preferred the Emirates lounge in Sydney to the QF lounge. Will I have access?

I believe the answer should be Yes because it is a QF flight number, but I am not sure whether being operated by AA will cause any problems with Emirates.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

No you won't have access to the Emirates lounge. You must be on either a QF metal or EK metal flight to access that lounge.

Thanks for your reply.
Just saw on Qantas website the following:

"Lounge Access
Enjoy access for you and one guest to Emirates Lounges throughout Australia, Europe, Asia, North Africa and the Middle East, whenever you fly with Qantas or Emirates."

Just mentions that you have to be flying with Qantas. What does flying with Qantas mean?

Funny thing is that Qantas is explicit that you must be on a Qantas operated aircraft when you depart London, but only that you must be flying Qantas when you depart from other places.

"When departing London Heathrow on a Qantas operated aircraft (when travelling on a QF or EK flight number), Gold members can access the British Airways Lounge."

That is listed under a general section titled "Benefits with Emirates", with a first sentence:

As a Qantas Gold Frequent Flyer, when you travel with Emirates between and within Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, Asia and Australia

No mention of the USA and you wouldn't be travelling with Emirates. I would suggest, in a non emotional way, that the earlier section about lounge access applies.

OK thanks for the advice medhead.

Of course, I don't know the answer. That was really just my reading of the rules. ;)

My advice, on the other hand, would be to "suck it and see" - Try your luck, the worst that can happen is they say no.

This is from Qantas themselves and I would say it means no lounge access to EK lounges on AA flights.
