EK Lounge General Discussion

NZ should be fine as itā€™s covered as part of the partnership.
ET just published this ā€¦ assuming HND also will be ok?
The Qantas-Emirates lounge access agreement is not worldwide: it applies only to lounges in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, the Middle East, North Africa and Europe. In addition, you canā€™t visit an Emirates lounge in Australia if youā€™re on a Qantas flight to a destination outside of that group, such to North America or South Africa.

Itā€™s quite ambiguous as Japan and Korea are outside the scope of the existing relationship: Emirates and Qantas Alliance | Our partner airlines and railways | Emirates Australia

People always say ā€œAsiaā€ without referencing what it really means.

FWIW, Emirates chat said no, but they may be wrong.

Anyway, Iā€™ll be able to say in June.

I have never heard of Japan or Korea being outside the alliance.

Only the Americas and South Africa are excluded.

Where did you get the impression they were excluded? (The codeshare map has no bearing on which flights are eligible)

Emirates was the source that initially informed me - that it was not part of the agreement - when I booked my flight (it's a Skywards booking). It's why I have been querying as it's a pain to walk from one end of the airport to the other to just be rejected at the lounge.

(I mentioned this above but also mentioned the Emirates staff member might be wrong.)

The staff member is almost certainly wrong. Never before has Japan or Korea been listed as an exclusion, by the many - many - sources covering the partnership - including both the EK and QF websites.

Well thatā€™s definitely good to know as Iā€™d much rather spend my time in the EK lounge.

If on the same ticket can I enter the F lounges in transit if arriving into DXB on F but departing in J?
I thought I could as did the flight crew on my F Flight (SYD-DXB) but when I asked the escort and at the J Longe Desk they said "No." I hope you have better luck!

I don't think you do, nothing on the QF or EK website indicates such.

I think some might be confused by the oneworld rule for shorthaul connections (which is only less than 5 hours anyway) and wouldn't apply to EK metal/lounges. QF famously does not like that rule and often rejects people in this situation.

Possibly was an older rule no longer in force?

Yeah, I couldnā€™t find anything on it which I why I was asking if anyone on here had recent experience. Itā€™s no deal breaker and Iā€™m only in the early stages of booking so there might be better options

So the answer is - access denied. Haneda is not a destination covered under their relationship, as I suspected.

Off to the Qantas lounge šŸ˜ž

I really cannot say as I have come across no experiences.

I do know that a QF WP/SG cannot access an EK lounge in Oz before a QF flight to the USA.

That would indicate to the negative.

Just landed after this flight.

I can confirm the full range of benefits apply to QF WP departing DXB even on EK codes.

QF Platinum printed on the boarding pass, on the digital BP it said Skyrewards Gold.

-Priority Check in
-Priority Bag tags
-Use of the J/F entry to the terminal and dedicated screening & egates
-Access to the F lounges
-Personal welcome by the cabin manager on board

That was my first EK Y flight (I have flown their J before and wasnā€™t a fan). But as far as Y goes, I found EK quite superior to QR. The only downside is I really donā€™t like DXB T3, but once youā€™re in the lounge itā€™s fine.

Flying SYD-DBX-MXP in a few weeks. First leg is in F and the second in J. I'm sure I had read somewhere that the longhaul F ticket would get me into the F Lounge post flight. Is this correct?

This query might prove to be academic as my wife and daughter are in J all the way (I exerted 50th birthday priveleges when booking) which I suspect will limit us to the J Lounge anyway.
Access into the F Lounge is based on your outbound class of travel. Therefore you will only have access to the J lounge in DXB. You can of course pay the 200 USD (I think it is about that much) to access the F lounges for up to 4 hours. Also if you're Plat or P1 with QF, you also have access to the DXB EK F lounges.

Why bother booking a QF flight on EK metal? Just book EK direct. At least you will know the seat you're buying hasn't been cancelled!

Isn't there a much better status and FFP earn by booking the QF number? (for QFF'ers)

Assuming such a First lounge is open.
I assume we are talking about the EK first class lounge. The 3 FCLs at DXB are open 24 hours a day.
That post of mine being quoted was made in March 2021. At the time not all DXB lounges were open and even of those that may have been open, were not necessarily open all day.
