Emirates have just announced the largest single order for 777s ever, making 2011 the best ever year for 777 orders.

So when do they order 500 A320NEOs just to see what all the fuss is about and add that to their largest order ever collection

To be fair to EK, they are acknowledged to have the largest bladder and strongest stream.

The other interesting announcement was the Qantas order for 10 x 777-300 ERs.

An interesting follow on article.

Limited access to aircraft financing and global economic turbulence are less than ideal conditions to undertake a major expansion push, but this is the reality Emirates Airline has to accept as it embarks on a new period of growth.

For Emirates, the last few months have been relatively quiet, with the airline taking a pause in its fleet growth to reconcile its business and prepare booking systems, ground infrastructure and personnel for what is shaping up to be a growth spree that should run until 2018.

Under that fleet plan, Emirates expects to digest a massive influx of aircraft, at times absorbing two Boeing 777-300ERs and one Airbus A380 in a single month.[/TD]

Do we know if these are replacements of older 777s or additions?

Interesting too the leased 748Fs will now be 777Fs too.

I suggest the ;) followed by  or a  with an actual disclaimer in small print would have probably been better than a .

This is probably the most number of emoticons I've ever used in one post...

Sorry, I thought the "idea" emoticon  was the disclaimer.
I don't think Qantas has been to an airshow for 10 years.

Given that there are 45 undisclosed orders on the current order book, sometimes an idea could become fact........then again pigs might fly one day !

I would have went with  followed by  as suitable disclaimer.

Btw why is the idea icon  instead of the lightbulb that it used to be. I don't even know what  is supposed to mean - eye injury?

Sent from my iPhone using Aust Freq Fly app so please excuse the lack of links.

Not surprisingly Airbus have trumped the order with 50 A320 Neos and 5 more A380s for Qatar and Spirit ordering 50 A320s

I can't read this many 777 references without assuming someone is talking about me. :)

The question is, do they even have room for that many planes at Dubai? It is one thing to have financial power to buy these planes, it is another thing to find places to park all these planes.

The only thing I can think of is for them to fly non Dubai routes around the world where they can get 5th freedom.
