They are such miserable cows ..

.. For saying an arrogant "g'day" back to me after not having seen another Aussie for 6 months as if I was some sort of retard. What a nice welcome.
.. For hanging around the galley with their mates for non-stop chat-a-thons
.. For twice hitting the guy next to me with their trolley only to tell him, "you're getting a bit of a bashing today".
.. For dropping plastic cups all over my feet and not even a simple "sorry", the other chick had to say "oopsiedaisies" ..

I find male Qantas attendants SO much nicer .. the women simply act if they are some superior being. It's such a shame that the attitude still hasn't changed, that they still haven't grasped the concept of customer service properly.

If I had it my way I'd put all the female attendants in first class only, where they have to be nice otherwise they lose their jobs, and keep the blokes for economy.

The only way to describe the female staff is like a "mate's club in the sky", where they can hang out and gossip all day, and maybe serve some meals if they feel up to it.

kooky, you obviously have not flown enough.

In my considerable experience, the things you mentioned or similar have all happened to me more than once.

I do not find this type of behavior to be gender specific at all; I have observed FA's of all sexes behaving in the manner you mentioned.

No only that, the better service I have received has come from FA's of all sexes as well.

Cool .. point taken but also glad to see others have the same feeling on service.

What really irked me most of all was the way they wheeled around their trolleys - they kind of all queued up to get back to the galley as if they were at the supermarket or something, each trying to push their way through.

It's incredibly fun to watch as an example of how Aussies are chilled out and approach everything with a no worries attitude, but it's so sad when you think you just paid two grand to watch this when you could have had your own little Japanese servant at your beck and call for the same dosh.

You might want to be careful where you make this statement  . Some might label you according to common prejudice  .

Economy???? I've had similar service in business and first! In first, I've had "how arrrhhh you mate" being welcomed on board (from Japan), and in business one of the f/a actaully was visably pi##ed off when I didn't know how to open the food tray (after waking from sleep). Sod that, I'd rather curl up and die than fly qantas again any class!!!!

Genki desu. Small world Lindsay - I used to own a queenslander in Clarendon St near Churchie opposite the park. Why oh Why would you even condider Qan**ss when other airlines do the job and more... Anyway, nice chatting to another Vegas man :D

Konnichiwa Lindsay san!!! Nihon ni ita koto ga ikimashitaka? Nihon no koto ga suki desu ka? Watshi wa chotto nihongo dekiru desu. Anatawa dekimasuka?

The trolley derbies on Q flights...

I have lost count of the number of times I have had feet, shoulders or knees hit very hard as the Qantas FA's run their trollies up and down the aisles. When you're trying to nap in the narrow capsules they call economy seats, it's not unusual for a part of your body to escape the confines of your seat. Not only do they hit you at high speed, they show no sign at all that they noticed or cared.

I do find Qantas FA's generally rude in economy as opposed to the cheery greeting you get on boarding, although presumably these are business class FA's doing the greeting.

Interestingly enough though, no Qantas FA could be nearly as bad as the superannuated, grossly overweight, miserable and grumpy coughes they use in international flights at United - even in business!

Ah well, at one stage (early 20's) I was going to become a FA (really unhappy working at family business back then), then subsequently I was married to a Japanese-speaking Australian QF CSA. Then I got divorced and as I was travelling a lot by then, dated a couple of short- and long-haul Dom and Intl FA's....how did you think that I was going to escape the grip of Qantas :?:

Small world Lindsay - I used to own a Queenslander in Clarendon St near Churchie opposite the park.

How did you know I went to school at Churchie

I'm sure I told BlacKnox I couldn't speak Japanese :D

Lindsay, once read in a trip report that you got married at Churchie and had the reception at the Cricketer's Club, whilst staying at the downtown Hilton. Being a Vegasman myself, I guessed you were a Churchie oldboy

And there are other ways to tell!

Well I could have thrown stones across the creek at him during lunch break ... except I had probably finished high school before he started  .

Oooh, a Coorparoo High Boy..don't worry, I was throwing stones across Norman Creek at you.. and don't forget I'm not too many years younger than you...1984 was a good year

Aaarhhh, Churchie dances and Coorparoo HS "meetings" - thanks for the mammories; sorry, mean memories :D

Twas long gone by 84 ... then agian you know exactly how old I am  . I'd hate the count how many stones we tossed over that creek over the years, but I never heard of anyone actually getting hit by any. And the teachers thought we were looking for lost cricket balls :D .

Hmmmm, it must be a Qantas thing, everywhere you go the Qantas board goes outrageously off-topic. :D
