Earning Velocity points with BP

First try last night. My VA card is too old. So I had to use a temp card and will now have to manually sort the points

I filled up over a week ago, swiped my velocity card then when swiping my credit card it gave out an error. The cashier asked me to re swipe my credit card. No points awarded on receipt. BP cashier said to call VA. But do I really have the time to spend hours to claim 90 points? don't think so.

I spent 26mins on the phone with three different people today. Despite Velocity showing my BP temp card as linked, it wasn't linked so apparently now it is but Im not holding my breath for the points to show up.

I went through the same exercise but asked the cashier to cancel the transaction and try again. She said she couldn't so I just walked out. All too hard, not sure it's worth it as this BP seems to be a couple of cents higher then the United up the road

6 months later, it's still the same pathetic experience. My velocity card gave an error, I tried the temp one, it said expired (even on the receipt). ~150 points lost. Why can't they get this right.

You used the original temp card you picked up in the past?

Suggest you collect a totally new temp card and register it.

It's not worth it for me, My Local BP's (Gold Coast)are consistently 4-6c higher than other retailers, and when the price cycle jumps by the usual 20c or so, BP increases their prices 24-36 hours before the other stations.

That has an advantage, BP is a great indicator for when to fill up elsewhere.

I have found the same thing with the 3 BP's in my general area. I now use the local independent

Driving to / from work there are 3 different BP's within 20km distance.

Cheapest us the store closest to home. Same price as other brands +/- a few cents occasionally. Dearest is closest to work.

Driving past the local BP, fuel was $1.25. Shell up the road was $1.16, less 4c with a voucher, less 10c with a shop spend. I exchanged a gas bottle.
At a $1.02 I'll stick with Shell.

Exchanging a gas bottle is a good move.
Buying water and chocolate seems to me to be counterproductive.
My BP offers me 8 Cents off per litre, when I buy the water or chocolate. I can't see the advantage.

New offer just in, seems to be targeted. It says, "fill up" and, "no minimum spend". So, if I put say $5 of petrol on my card I get 500 points and it will still fit in with my AMEX offer of $10 off if spend $40. :D I don't use much petrol, so I need to string it out till the end date of the AMEX deal.

I just completed a fill up three times to get 3 points per litre on the third fill and 4 points per litre on the fourth fill deal, so I probably won't get this one.

My wife got the 500 points deal, so I'll go top up the car with her Velocity card, it is setup to pool to me anyway.
