Earn up to 110 Qantas Status Credits on the ground

The Binge offer is sneaky; the going rate for new customers on Binge is $4.95 per month; but to get the 1k of QFF points you need to join on a $19/$22 plan - who would pay 400% over asking for 1k points.
The T&Cs appear to only include Hoyts as the entertainment category so Binge won’t get you any status credits.

Taking into account my upcoming flight which would net me 48SC, I'd be 16SC short of Silver.

Looked at all the options, seems just booking a ~$350-400 return flight somewhere and enjoying a weekend trip would be easier than signing up to / purchasing unnecessary things.

Cards and Banking - I've already got a QFF points earning card but it isn't listed / I'm not going to apply for a new one.

Insurance - Either already have insurance with my Novated lease provider / have just changed my health insurance plan.

Utilities and Services - Red Energy has a poor plan compared to what I currently have.

Hotels and Travel - Likely going to be more expensive compared to booking from other websites.

Fuel and Cars - I've got an EV and I don't have a requirement to rent a car.

Food and Wine - I don't drink much at all, realistically only could earn from Woolworths shopping.

Shopping - The only other realistic thing for me, but there's nothing I really want to, or need to buy.

Health, Leisure and Entertainment - I don't watch movies nor subscribe to streaming services.

Exactly. The thought of someone buying an insurance product (or anything else) that you otherwise weren't thinking about, just to earn some points/SCs bewilders me.

Its all rather Pavlovian if you ask me.

….
I don’t believe you need to sign up to a new card, just earn 1,000 points on that existing card and you’ll get 20 status credits. (Provided its direct earn)

This is nothing more than a gimmick promotion. It will be quite difficult, not to mention quite expensive, for the regular FF member to get all of these SC's.
While not openly targeted as such, i guess this is an on the ground promo therefore aimed more towards the pc/pc+ cohort

The savvy ones will achieve however much they can with what they do anyway, rather than explicitly go out and get them through huge changes or deliberate unnecessary spending. If it so happens someone can scoop 110 SC by not shifting any or much of what they do anyway, all good.

Maybe it seems like a whole lot of rubbish for a few SCs (not even close to any qualification), but if it's in the course of doing anyway stuff, then big deal - by doing something "anyway" you can earn the equivalent of a golden triangle flight in discount Economy (maybe a return).

This is one of the rare moments when QF SCs can be earned by doing something else besides flying (aside from Green Tier), cf. Flybuys earning Velocity SCs (which is also rather small anyway).

It's all a bit odd. First the Loyalty Gift, and now this. Harks back to the pandemic days (remember that?)
They've got to be seeing something in their numbers...

The loyalty gift is useless as doesnt count towards lifetime status, if these ones do they may be some small value with no effort.

Not listed, but wondering if points earn from AMP or Qudos bank accounts might trigger SC?

Doesn't seem to be an easy way on the website/app to track your progress in each category.

Looks like I'll have to resort to manual tracking via Excel over the next 3 months :( .

FAQ says provided you get marketing emails they will send a progress email each month. But agree would be nice to easily check this promo online.

You can of course view your last 3/6/12 months of activity by category, although those categories dont strictly align with the categories for this promo.

I notice this morning that sometimes my EDR show up in shopping other times in other.

But good if you’ve already purchased!

SYD+1 bought an Annual Multi-Trip that kicks in soon (it was the cheapest). Doesn’t matter that it was paid for months ago. Similarly, we both have back to back QF Hotels that post as well as regular monthly CC points. I’ll no doubt gets some WWRs convert during the period and probably buy some points with bonus wine to kick PC along. So very easy SCs for no change in spend!

However, neither of us need them this status year…😳.

Oh well, still possibly 0.15% closer to LTP…😂

I believe QF changed that so that they do count, after a lot of bad feed back.
No they back-flipped on the DSCs not counting from the latest FDSC offer.

But the loyalty SCs given without prompty still do not count; and they actually removed amounts from peoples Life time balance last FF year when adding them this year.

This is a massive flex by Qantas Loyalty - as the person in this article points out:

Earning Qantas SC switches the Pavlovian response from collecting Qantas Frequent Flyer Points to earning Qantas Status on the ground. As others have said - without much behaviour change, many will earn between 30-80 SC by doing what they already do in the QFF ecosystem already, so will be attractive to people who might struggle to obtain a desired Tier eg: people who don't fly enough for say Silver or say don't quite get to Gold by flying alone.

Sticking it to the RBA and proposed interchange caps is also part of the story, along with some feel-good PR after a few PR missteps in the recent and further past hangover from the Joyce era.

All the while, their competitor, Bain/Virgin Australia/Velocity, is lighting exploding cigars in their own face by increasing the requirement of spend to maintain status on an inferior product with fewer lounges and fewer international partners. Qantas loyalty must be laughing their cough off at the moment......
