Hi Guys,

Thinking of booking a QF, code share EK, flight Barcelona to BNE in J. We are both QF Gold. There will be a 10 hour stopover to connect to our BNE flight in the middle of the night .... midnight to 10am.

Could you please offer some suggestions as to what we can do. WE don't want to leave the airport. This is at the end of a long overseas trip. We'll be wanting to get home at this point.

I seem to remember reading that if the stop over is more than ? hours we can get a hotel night for free????

We don't mind paying but would like to know all the options.

Thanks for help with this.

Are you kidding me?

  • First and Business customers with a connection time until the first available flight of more than six hours and less than 24 hours upon arrival in Dubai.
  • Premium Economy and Economy customers with a connection time until the first available flight of more than eight hours and less than 24 hours upon arrival in Dubai, and who have eligible tickets.

Guess who is flying whY and has a 7 hour (00:35-07:15) stopover in Dubai? :(

I hope the lounges are open and have comfy seats ...

6 hours 40, but still a bummer. I'd be looking at the airport hotel options.

It depends to some degree on which part of the EK terminal you are in. Both outbound and return I had to switch between concourses using the little train. Neither EK business lounge floors seemed very quiet, with flight announcements and other noise. Maybe I didn't find all of the features, but I was fed up with trains, walking, escalators and lifts by the time I got to the lounge. It seems that QF have got into a partnership just as EK service is declining. Cabin service is not a scrap of what it was a few years ago.

Well I will be in the F Lounge which will hopefully be a bit quieter than the business lounges.

Read the QF page however I'm unsure if I would qualify to use it flying ex PER,in J, as it is Emirates-Emirates (booked through QF web site). Anyone had any experience of this?

we had a 7 hour stop over recently. I made it my duty to understand the airport and its lounges. I visited 7.....3 first lounges, 3 business and the Diners Club lounge. If you are a FF nut I can thoroughly recommend this as an exercise :). The main lounge you want to get to is the first lounge in the A gates area. This is the one others refer to as "the" F lounge.
The business lounge in the A gates area is also vast and very well equipped, so don't worry if you are restricted to the business lounges
(and sorry I am not yet a lounge access expert and someone else will be able to tell you if you can get into the first lounges)

If you have QF WP status, then you are eligible to use any EK lounge before a QF or EK flight.

Dud post by me as you would've needed to read the OP and the first couple of replies. Perhaps just a slow day

My question was relating to the "Dubai Connect" offering by QF. I'm looking at PER-JFK Classic in J. It seems as though I can get 3 of us in J but through DXB on Emirates metal but a QF flight number. There is an approx ten hour break between flights. Would I be able to take up the "Dubai Connect" offering? I suspect "no" based on the Ts & Cs stating a "QF-EK connection." However I was wondering if anyone had any experiences to the contrary.

P.S. Nice win by the Hawks!

DubaiConnect is more of an EK offering that QF are using for thier connections. Event the T&C's link points to a page on the Emirates website.

Certainly since you are EK->EK metal that's where you need to look.

The only issue I can see is booking class.

Would EK HGK/DXB/VIE in J count as Dubai Connect and benefits if 7 hours + stopover?
