So...currently slumming it with the masses in the QP in SYD because the J lounge is closed for cleaning, I was under the impression that there was some form of dress code here...Gees was I wrong.

What's the strangest thing you've seen in a QP?

Mine is a family all wearing the same Christmas shirts and the girl sitting next to me complaining to her mother that the 'thongs' that she got for Christmas are very uncomfortable (NB: She's wearing sneakers).

Here we go again.

Perhaps the thongs are so uncomfortable that she decided to wear sneakers.
NB thongs are footwear. A thong is not.

Could be interpreted both ways, guess that was just my dirty mind.

Dress standards? Disappeared with common sense a few years back....

My in-cabin bag wore its Marco Polo Diamond tag this morning in SYD QP . It was fairly full in there at 10am so probably wasn't noticed.

there's a reason why the QClub is always referred to as the QPub!! ironically most pubs around impose a stricter dress code.... but QF has to try to keep the peace between pleasing the QC members (masses) or risk losing members (masses) if it does impose a more strict dress code... let's not forget that a lot of air travel in oz is part of our everyday lives/job/whatever.. it really all boils down to US taking responsibility for OUR STANDARDS as AUSTRALIAN TRAVELLERS..maybe a change of mindset on our behalf??! ...it would be interesting to know if other airlines' homeport lounges have such issues with their 'natives'!! quite frankly I think the QC is only as good as its 'members'!!
i'm looking forward to the time when VAs lounges inevitably become the same 'cespool' of 'unacceptable dress/behaviour' and the whinging starts there!! hmmmm...the one common denominator...US!!

Usual story ..... I of course would point blank refuse to entertain even thinking about joining any 'club' that would even remotely consider accepting me as a member .........

good to know...at least that's one less in any lounge/club (whatever you choose to call it)

Anyone who is bothered by the dress code can stay outside, plenty of room on the chairs in the terminal. It's hard enough to find a place to sit in the lounges these days.

Meh. If it's clean and covers the appropriate bits, then to each their own. I might cringe at what some people wear, but that's hardly relegated to airline lounges. I've seen men in various lounges spilling out of their suits. They may well be wearing a suit, but it still makes me cringe. Yet seen guys wearing t-shirts and boardshorts with Havianas and not given it a second thought.
