Virgin, buy this aircraft and I will never fly another airline again!

Qantas was on the reference group that helped design the 777 and their deliveries are still some time off :cool:. I wouldn't read too much into a sales pitch. Unless Virgin has a fleet planner squirreled away somewhere who worked under Peter Abeles back in the day and weights the "cool factor" of the fleet very highly.
 
Had to laugh at the fact Virgin even used a different bus company for the tour yesterday compared to QF/ JQ!
 
Actually, the 787's engines are designated 'No Paint Areas'. All operators will have the same grey coloured engines.

Correct, if it was a joke and someone just photoshopped the image this detail would have been overlooked, VS livery for instance as published by Boeing with the same no paint engines!

I've heard that Virgin Australia is talking to both Airbus and Boeing about their wide body fleet requirements later in the decade. Given that, it is no surprise that there would be images of 787's in the DJ colours as part of the sales pitch.
 
It still remains to be seen whether the dreamliner is actually a better passenger experience or not. It's all a wonderful shiny new toy at the moment but it reminds me of the hype around the A380. That aircraft was marketed as basically palatial, but the reality for the passenger is that the airlines just crammed more seats into it to keep the passenger comfort about the same. Aside from fuel savings and trekky type lighting and panels I doubt there will a lot of difference between sitting in one of these and a 777. ;)

Kudo's to Boeing though for giving it a name that could end up being a marketing juggernaut. The American's excel at cheesy names.
 
Just in relation to the A380 - the F seats on QF are palatial compared to the 744. Also the J seats are fully flat rather than slip sliders.

On the 787 it will be interesting to see the effect of the higher pressure on jet lag. I personally don't really get jet lag (don't have time when I arrive and I have a 3 year old waiting when I get home so tired is not an option) so will be keen to get observations from here.

One of the significant differences between a 777 and 787 is the cabin altitude (8000 vs 6000).

Yes, but in the context of the quote, it was in reference to the A380 which has a cabin altitude of 5000, the reference to the 777 was pointing out it is a difference not mentioned in an earlier post which is now referenced.

Yes that is true, but on the 787 they can have the cabin at a lower pressure (higher density) than other aircraft.
