Try promo code FMZ59 when looking for J saver fares. The route above seems to be a bit of an anomaly in terms of pricing though so you might just have to try a few dates.

And yep that is me with MaRLo at ASOT in Malaysia a few years ago :D
that code doesn't seem to be working anymore, its not complaining thats invalid/expired etc. just the non discounted prices are showing up again. perhaps due to happy hour being on?

So no creative Cook Island type runs in J turning up for the sleuths here? :D
Yes you get heaps of SC's for that one. I did it 2 years ago. Business out from Perth, something like 280 x2 and points back.Just beware the return flight coming into Auckland in the middle of the night. NOTHING at the airport is open. Even the Air NZ lounge (which Virgin no longer partners with) only opens til 4.30am. I was flying business and had to bed down on the bench seats of a closed cafe for a few hours. It would have been appalling if my 80 year old parents had been with me.

For anyone planning a Status run I see SYD-DUBLIN for $A1150 return on Virgin site on Feb dates I was looking at. Gives a ton of SC when taken via MEL each way.

Someone might have time to work that out with the Double SC offer?

Plats get to use the Etihad First Lounge in Abu Dhabi and the Etihad lounge in Dublin is really excellent. Been there several times.
I believe it has to be on Virgin planes only.

Was playing around with the Multi-City tool and came up with this weekend getaway to Auckland (assuming all flights booked in business saver):

MEL > OOL (Regular SC = 60, Double SC = 120)
OOL > AKL (Regular SC = 80, Double SC = 160)
AKL > OOL (Regular SC = 80, Double SC = 160)
OOL > MEL (Regular SC = 60, Double SC = 120)

Total 560 SC for $932.58 (or $1.67/SC). Multiple dates in May/June.
We are going to NZ in Feb now. Add on Perth to Melbourne return SC 200full business, double 400 =960 . !!!!!!! Platinum for the year again. Definitely found OOL for the return leg. Partners new year starts 21 Jan, Im half way through. After that we will get using our thousands of FF's for rest of year.
Business to NZ is cheaper than Business PER to Syd anyway.

Just read the double status points conditions.

"Cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer"

For all you experts in this,...........................
Does that mean if you use a Promo code, no double SC's?

like to know soon so I can book at end of happy hour when promos come back up. If ok.

Just checked last years 2xSC fares I took 3 times between Perth and Darwin. Fare basis says LZFDO/PR/PR.

Sure sounds like promo fare code. Gosh I would have been stuffed and lost my platinum status if it hadn't worked. May not risk it. Terms might be different to Feb 19.

Hello all
Does anyone know if VA enforces having to register before booking the flight? A friend booked a flight yesterday and had not registered for the promo. The the flight booking and promo registration takes part during the promo registration period, would he still earn the double status points? Thanks!

I would hope they would disable promo codes during DSC if not valid?

I am sure I've used discount codes in the past and all posted fine.

The intent they have is not to stop 5% or 10% discounts being used I feel sure.

But call them to be certain perhaps.

Currently tossing up which fares to purchase. Always hard to put a value on SCs during this DSC period. Do I go freedom instead of elevate for an extra $200 but gives 60 extra SCs? (hypothetical example)

For me the value is still with Elevate. Freedom just isn’t worth the extra unless you are close to going up a tier.

New qualifying period started for me on Sunday last week after re qualifying for platinum and gifting gold. Just booked personal travel (weekend trips to see family and some new destinations) until September 2020 with family pooling and DSC I will qualify for platinum again with two months to spare. Now to get the additional 500 status credits from work trips for gold gift again.

Or you can use your free Platinum upgrades

True but even then J Saver tickets usually cost the same and all those extras SCs....
Yup it's ridiculous how expensive for freedom fares. About 4x the price of a discounted getaway fare. Are there any discount codes that actually work to discount a freedom fare? I've never found one that does, despite it being described as doing so in the promo codes page/thread.

I’ve never known a code to work on the freedom fare rate either.

Was looking at a trip to Dunedin tonight and paid Biz is less than Freedom fares!
