A question on timing: I'm booking a status run around 10 days before my anniversary date (end of October). I know sometimes it can take weeks for the DSCs to post — am I at risk of not getting the bump to WP while waiting for the DSCs, or is this an easy thing to call up and ask to have fixed?
It should eventually be fixed if there’s an issue but no extra status granted until they show.

I doubt anyone can answer that at the moment. Last time, the delays ranged from just days to many weeks (and likely never without manual intervention). Some were reporting delays of up to 8 weeks with no latitude being given by the GCC, however I believe all have had the errant SCs count toward status tier qualification eventually. I guess it depends how soon after your membership year rolls over, that you need the higher status?

I couldn't get search on the thread to work so just want to confirm with the brains trust - a Qantaslink flight qualifies for DSCs doesn't it? I've earned SCs for flights to Hamilton and Hobart. I'm sure it does but just want to confirm before using my Amex travel credit. I forgot about it last year...

Yes it does.

They say Qantas operated, so IMO if it is on a plane in Qantas livery, it counts. So QantasLink and JetConnect etc should earn DSC. Certainly, in the past they have. There is nothing in the T&C's that say they don't count and I think Qantas would have a lot of complaints. Especially when these subsidiary companies are really just about different employment conditions.

After what turned out to be much difficulty BNE-SYD-SFO return for 880. Revenue flight no issue but could not get the points flight for my partner to stick. Award seats were there, went whole way through booking but kept getting error after the contact confirmation pop-up. First call to premium line pointed me to error being caused by wrong chrome settings and said they could make booking for me but would have to pay. Made changes, issue continued, called back and spent 40 minutes with the lovely Stephen getting reward booking into system and linked to my revenue flight. Now to decide what to do. Thinking trains across to Chicago, Washington and NYC then fly back to SFO.

I had exact same experience with Chrome, incl doing the QF suggested fix re popups, which also didn't work. Switched to MS Edge then to make the booking.

Just booked CBR-MEL-SYD-WLG-SYD-MEL-CBR in J for $3).30 an SC. Will earn 660, but as i failed to reach 600 SC's last year, although enjoyed the lounge benefits on trips to Sri Lanka and Europe, I'll need to find another 40SC's from somewhere. I guess i could book a CBR-SYD return and just get the double SC's on it, although the $660 RTN to HK looks pretty good IMO.

Got a week in NZ again, plan to do the Tongariro crossing now in Feb, plus Welllington and Rotorua.

depending on how you value your time, I'm doing an early morn syd-mel edeal run for 40SC (20sc, on DSC) as I needed a paltry 25SC...

oh i agree, i'm not a fan of spending a day flying around accumulating SC's. But the best CBR-SYD or MEL or BNE fares are pretty pricey right now. Around $400 rtn so $660 return to HK is good value. I'd spend time there if I chose HK over a domestic flight.

Just got a reminder email about this campaign. The email still says, "If you haven’t already, simply register and then make your bookings by 11.59pm (AEST) 14 August 2018, for travel between 21 August 2018 and 8 August 2019."

But the website says the travel dates must be up to 2 August, 2019.

Did Edge work? Update chrome and enable popups seems to be the standard CSO advice. Didn’t work for me...

Cheers skip

Ive pulled the pin on a LHR J flight next year that should give me enough SC's to retain WP but leave me short on segments. Im sure i can get them though.

While i love the experience of flying, lounges & travelling around I would agree flying around for status while fun has its downsides depending on the flights booked.
Ive done the J SYD-BNE-CNS-BNE-SYD a few times and they are long days.
I did a J run SYD-MEL-CHC-BNE-SYD last year and realised i probably wouldnt want to do that often.
I didnt sleep on the overnight flight couldnt checkin to a hotel until after 3pm and basically dropped as soon as i got it.
I had booked a longer layover in BNE on the way back but since the flight out was at 6am i was super tired once i got home.
Had a good time in CHC though. But it did teach me to make more of the trip of it and to see the places i am visiting more.

Sorry if this has been covered already.

If I have registered for the DSC offer and book via my Qantas Business Rewards login, will I still receive the DSC? (assuming all the right times of booking / flights etc)?

Thanks

Fair dinkum they are hopeless. Seriously shows the lack of attention to detail (or care) they are paying. They deserve what they get IMHO. Really really poor!!!

I mean OK sure, they "fixed" the original 8/8/19 to reflect the 353 day limit ie: 14/8/18->2/8/19=353 days, so it's technically not possible to book til 8/8/19 as of today, but to have NOT fixed the emails (specially a reminder)?

Sloppy Skippy.

It reflects many aspects of QF lately IMO.

Yep, not a good look. I've reevaluated my booking and have gone from an intention to book 21 x J fares down to 4. They've lost a large investment simply because I've decided that I may as well keep VA in my WP loop.

This was due to the poor attention to detail by QF, but more importantly, the QF J fares being increased due to the DSC promo to a level of about $180 dearer than VA J for the same route (as of now, future sales not considered). Sorry QF, I'll only play the mugs game so far. I like your BNE J lounge, better than the BNE VA pub, but for $180 ... it ain't worth it! As for the CNS lounges, VA beats QF in my opinion. VA also offer the better on-board J experience so $360 dearer per return on QF just doesn't add up ... life time status or not!

It may not be easy but is possible. Just be prepared to keep calling until you get the right person to help.

I sent email regarding flights 8 weeks prior and they also credited return flights on those bookings without waiting 8 weeks.

And on 30 May I called and they credited a JQ flight from 3 weeks prior as I needed those SCs to get to exactly 1200 SCs.

Very much a negative result for Qantas, considering that what they are presenting is a promotion!
I see this as another example of the fraught nature of using SC's as a promotional gambit. Getting the balance right is really tricky and, considering that they don't appear capable of even presenting a consistent offer, what chance they'll get the subtleties right?!
