Double Status Credits (book by 5/2/18, fly 12/2/18 to 20/1/19)

I booked 3 tickets for 3 international trips today, going to Istanbul, Singapore and Beijing respectively, during August and October. In each of the 3 bookings, I used a Qantas voucher valued at $350 which I bought in December 2017, will that affect anything? I just realised that the booking reference number is the same as the one in each voucher, meaning the creation date is not today 1 Feb, but in December last year!

Tried to call 13 13 13 but was so difficult to get through, and the Live Chat agent wasn't quite sure, too (but said this, and I quote, "It would be better if you will contact the Frequent Flyer team. There are scenarios that they allowed this kind of things to be eligible on getting the promotion. It is not guaranteed but there is a chance that it will be accepted since you just booked the new flights today."). The Qantas FF team is only available from 7am to 7pm, lol. Before I call 13 13 13 and press 2 the first thing in the morning tomorrow, can anyone give a definite answer or rest me assured? Thanks in advance!

Hi Jiong - I see you you've managed to sort out registration on these older voucher bookings, which is great... but also keep in mind that only QF marketed and operated flights are eligible on this promo, and so you are unlikely to see any double SCs for SYD-xDXB-IST on EK, even if on a QF ticket.

Cheers,
Matt.

Also, can a voucher be used with a GCC booking (eg to buy a comfort seat)?

GCC?
When booking a 2-seat-for-myself (comfort seat) trip via the Qantas Call Centre with a Gift Voucher, the consultant had difficulty in putting it all together. What I ended up with was a booking on a new PNR (not the one on the Gift Voucher) with the amount of the voucher taken off the fare and I paid the remainder on credit card.
The extra status credits due (by virtue of the Gift Voucher having qualified for an offer) were given to me after I called and requested them.

A question if I may......if both my wife and I register for the DSC offer, can I then buy a voucher for both of us or do I need to one for each of us? Thank you in advance for your help

Actually I will fly Sydney-Perth-London-Istanbul, not via Dubai;)

If you both register, then buy a 2-person voucher you will both be eligible for DSCs.

Which gets over my issue of a little more difficulty being seated together. But sometimes space is nice too. Although Qantas have twice separated us on the same PNR.

Aha - well in that case it's only the last leg you need to be concerned with missing out on :)
Yes, the BA leg is not eligible for double SCs. And as to QF9 Perth to London, it is still subject to government and regulatory approval for departures effective 24 March 2018, lol, but there should be no problem.

meaning can use vouchers purchased in December during AMEX promo to get the DSC, but just need to call them prior and after ?

Thanks. I just called Qantas, and the customer representative, after keeping me holding for a few minutes during which she asked her manager, told me that I'm still eligible for the double SC promotion and that all I need to do is call them after I actually finish each flight and they will manually intervene to make sure I can earn double SC for the bookings I made yesterday. She has put a note regarding this on my account, which rest me assured.

Dumb question, but for a future booking with 2 adults and 1 infant should I buy a voucher for 3 pax?

Hi,

Yes ... The PNR creation date is important; Ticketing date is not.
Ta for that information.
If i used a voucher purchased in the relevant period , and used that towards to purchase price of a ticket in the appropriate timeframe, would the ticket use the pnr created by the voucher and cover the whole of the flights status earnings?

From my recollection, infants (under 2 years of age), don't require a seat thus not considered a pax as they are on adult laps or in bassinet. Then again, it's been 6 years since I was in that position ;)

You may need to buy a 2 pax voucher and then ring QF CSC to add the infant, is my best guess?

Ok moving right along from voucher talk...

What are some trips you're booking with this offer?

Work-wise I am able to book a few SYD-MEL hops as well a SYD-SFO trip in June and lock it in.

Holiday-wise I am booking a SYD-ASIA trip for Easter and have no idea about my December holiday trip which I'll leave for a voucher.

Two Brisbane-Melb flex for work. Those two combined with one already booked and our J trip to Japan in May will see me hit WP for the first time. I'm about to hit the button on a J trip to Beijing for us in Sept that will give me SG in one trip. If we go to NYC in the new year, and my work travel continues after June, I might requalify for WP next year as well. Darn you status chasing...

Busy thread! The offer came just in time for me as I was about to book QF1-2 Premium Economy for May so just now done. Had to make fast decisions as the reasonable Saver fares were dropping out if I blinked. Thanks for all the advice, I've only recently properly understood how to use Status and it does make a comfort difference. (Though one thing I don't understand, and hadn't come across the chat previously - why buy vouchers?).

Very interesting reading! Thank you. I need just 85 points to retain wp from August 18 so a short trip is on the cards. Plus a voucher or two to use to start the earn for the following membership year. I am assuming that if I want to use the voucher(s) with a TA for an international trip I would just ask them to use the voucher and PNR and then pay the difference? (The TA is a specialist in maximising points and has got me some extra SC in the past).

85 Status credits, not points (which are a different QF currency)

No, to my knowledge the vouchers are purchased direct from QF and access to making bookings is through their website (links shown in posts upthread) - not like the old MCO's (Miscellaneous Charge Orders) aaah, those were the days....;)

You may want to read MadRoosters' previous posts @jenib, starting here (it's the money one)

Thanks for the response. I'll go that route then. I also wanted to know because I need to explain to a parent and aunt who were about to book J to Europe and always fly QF if possible (she used to be CL now wp) and I am helping her maintain her status. She books through QF (but not on the website).
