im planning to use GV for next month booking, but couldnt find the flight i wanted on the GV redeem page (it doe show up on regular search page) will i still be able to get dsc if i were to book via the call centre ?
I'll tell you next week when I travel

I could see flights ADL MEL for $146 but on the GV page it says $792. If you see further upthread I ended up on chat for over an hour - I think it would be easier to call. I can't see any reason why you wouldn't get DSC but don't let them charge you for it because you can't do it onlien

Good luck and let us know how you get on

As long as the PNR doesn’t get changed (repeat, doesn’t get changed), can’t see why not, all other things being equal.

It’s the only way.....except every single time you’ll be asked the bloody obvious. “Did you register for the promotion”? o_O:eek::rolleyes: Then waste 15 minutes while they check, tell you there’s no record of your registration, talk over you, check again still using the wrong promo dates, assume you’re an idiot who didn’t keep any details or proof...yada yada yada. It gets old when doing it for one flyer. Even worse when looking after other people’s accounts. Sometimes it’s hard to be good at something.
Exactly my experience. They are totally inept.

OT but - QF assure us this does not happen !! Surely they are not having us on.

Would QF do that - wash you mouth out :D The lady did say there was a glitch in the system though and it would be sorted "soon"

Trying to use some vouchers and could see red e deals for $146 but when you tried to use the vouchers it was over $700.
Just used a gift voucher a couple of hours ago to book flights Sydney-Adelaide in June. Checked ordinary website and then went through the gift voucher portal and the fares were the same for the flights I wanted.

Mind you, I've had previous gift voucher experience when the prices *weren't* the same but not to the extent quoted above!

Not sure if this thread is the correct one for the question, but as the booking I have is under the DSC it's my best attempt. Admin pls move if required.

I have a J rtn flight coming up SYD/MEL/DPS/MEL/SYD. It means I'll be in DPS for 25 hours and although I have't been there before I can't say that the place holds much mystery for me. Seen one inappropriate singlet slogan, seen 'em all. It's purely an SC run.

I am guessing the aircraft does an hour pit stop both ends before returning. I haven't found a Malaysian Airlines flight that leaves after QF45 and gets back in time for QF46 the next day to get some more SC. Would I be cutting it too fine to throw a DPS-MEL-DPS into that 25 hour dead space? How would I go attempting to pass through DPS security and customs with time to U turn and reboard the plane? I'm a total n00b at this sort of stuff so any suggestions or abuse is welcomed.

Just a question how is syd Mel dps Mel syd possible as far as I know QF don’t fly to Bali from Melbourne

MEL-DPS commences 23 Feb: link
Wow didn’t know that. I went Bali on Feb for DSC run and had a 25hr layover. Could not find any flights to earn more in between. As far as I know the plane does do an hour turn around in Bali but you will find that it does not do an hour turnaround on Melbourne or Sydney. That aircraft will go somewhere else before returning to wherever. For example I know the return flight from Bali to Sydney in the morning usually then goes onto New Zealand returns then back to Bali. My question is this. If you have an extra flight in between you would have to check in at Bali airport which means you have to clear immigration then run around go back through security then check in and then back through immigration again and then onto the gate. I honestly don’t think it could happen but an interesting concept. There is a transfer check point where you don’t pass through immigration but that only applies if you have a boarding pass for an onward flight.

I wouldn't attempt to do MEL-DPS-MEL-DPS-MEL back to back and on separate tickets. As it has been pointed out, you would need to clear immigration and check-in again at DPS for the flight back to Melbourne and check-in will be closed before you even get through immigration. I would just enjoy the day in Bali.

I recently had an excruciating call on essentially the same issue, which took about an hour (including wait/on hold).

Outcome - they couldn't explain why a normally available flight option didn't show up in the gift voucher booking engine; they couldn't book the missing option at the listed price; and my voucher now can't be redeemed online.

On the plus side, the turn of events made me reexamine my options and I found even better prices on acceptable dates :)

The one I spoke to had no explanation or excuse and also gave no assurances. Such assurances would obviously be worthless anyway while the different booking systems coexist.

They are forever having many many glitches with thier system. It is an ongoing problem that is getting tiresome.

1.6B profit in 2017, 1.4B 2016 but no improvement in customer service

Cutting/outsourcing customer service staff is profitable in the short term. But it can be disastrous in the long term.

(Sorry for the OT post... back to DSCs...)

just want to add a data point my recent flight on last week of March , DSC have been posted today promptly and i have also count toward Loyalty Bonus ( based on my calculation i couldn't reach that 500 just by base SC ) . QF now asking me to choose 50 SC or 8000 Points for this year membership .

I won't be needing more SC for this membership year so look like i will take 8000 Points

I’ve been told some absolute bollocks like this over the years, so have walked them through the steps to prove my point. Waste of time

Well the other reason to go for the SC is if you are chasing Lifetime Status. Over a number of years of taking SC as the loyalty bonus this can potentially save a significant amount of time to reach Lifetime Status.

Well i have been thinking about this , pretty new to this game and will be a while before i reach life time silver on other hand 8K points only work around $80 - $160 value max .
