Compare favorably with my 17 segment $3853 LHONE4s (x2). Note the Base fares ex OZ for these fares are:
  • LLONE4 - $3289
  • LHONE4 - $3479*
*"DEPARTURES 28MAY THROUGH 15AUG OR 03DEC THROUGH 24DEC DEPARTURE OF FIRST OUTBOUND INTERCONTINENTAL."

Note your YVR-DFW-ATL-and ORD-SFO-LAX routes may be upgradeable using 15K AAdvantage miles each.

Thanks, serfty. I'm very pleased with the saving. Unfortunately I don't have AA miles so I don't think there'll be any upgrading on those for me. However, I'll be putting in for the upgrades on SIN-LHR and LAX-SYD.

Make sure you put the upgrade requests in by phone early on the morning of 90 day prior date. ;)

On another note, is your fare a LHONE4 or a LLONE4?

What is the advantage of doing it by phone?

IME, the online request opens up exactly 2160 hours before the scheduled flight time. Via the 'phone it works by calendar day and you can submit your request earlier.

Actually, it's currently a LHONE4 but the price for that is $4,215.75. I asked the AAgent what the fare would be if I changed to a low season departure and he said it would be $190 less, making it $4,025.75.

I called AA in Dallas this morning to finalise my 20 segment LLONE4. I spoke with them two days ago to get it re-priced for a low season departure. When I phoned back today I got a price of $4,129.67, about $100 more than 10 or so days ago.

Interestingly, the agent told me it had been quoted as LHONE4, despite the first incontinental departure being on 2 April, low season. The agent confirmed 2 April was low season and could see my issue and has sent it back to Dublin for re-pricing.

Also interesting is the base fare of $3,484.

Hopefully I can get it corrected before QF's fuel fines go up tomorrow (9 May).

The whole point of ticketing via AA is so that you can avoid QF's fuel fines totally as AA doesn't pick up fuel fines for other carriers. :)

Ohhh. So is it correct that (i) QF are only increasing their fuel fines on 9 May, not their fares and (ii) if this is correct, I don't need to worry about any changes tomorrow?

You are ticketing through AA so only AA's charges apply. Even if QF increased their fares, the price of a DONE4 is fixed+++.

My ticketing indicates a base fare of $3,484 as well. I beleive it may have something to do with transiting HKG and a special treatment for a particular + element.

Sorry, simongr. Are you referring to a ticket you are looking at that includes a transit in HKG or are you referring to my earlier post where I listed my route (which included HKG)?

I'm not sure how they come up with this 'base' fare.

Thae "base" fare is fixed completely - only the +++ changes so I am not sure which of your fares I was referring to :)

If you route through another airport the +++ will change. They will also change on a daily basis as the exchange rates move and the taxes move in line with that (taxes being set in local currencies).

The base fare for an ex Oz LHONE4 is AUD3,479.

However, in same cases a tax or levy needs to be applied as part of the fare rather than showing in the +++.

Some years ago, I had an award booking MEL-SYD-HKG-CMB and the ticketing showed a fare of $6 with the additional +++ elsewhere.

Could somebody please try dialling the AA Australian number for me please, 1800 673486. I've tried several times today and just get a busy signal.
