I should call my DONE4 a DONE$. It's convenient the 4 and the $ sign are on the same key :)

Booked and receipted just prior to the mid-year changes, it consist of 20 flight and 2 surface segments. I'm doing it basically in 4 parts - Asia in November, Australia in January-February, US in April-May and US, Canada, Mexico Europe, Japan and home in late July to late September. I've had great fun with the planning and it continues to change by the day

However, the record alluded to is that not only are there 20 flights on the DONE4 there are another 19 flights as part of the trip not part of the DONE4. These are a combination of getting to and from the breaks and NRT at the start and end and various side trips. They are/will be a combination of paid, and on QF and VS points. Also there are 4 long distance rail trips.

So my challenge. Can someone beat that? Simongr surely? Or am I a mere amateur? As someone said to me, think of the points and status credits!

Calling serfty ....

I think his first DONE4 was issued before the 20-segment limit.

I hope you have used AA to issue the DONE4. Otherwise I think you might also hold the record for the highest amount in fuel fines for the DONE4 and associated connections.

Yep, AA out of NRT. Only through LHR once too. But I could still give the fuel fine record a push. Using VS points for SFO-AKL-SYD on NZ, the charge was $15.30 per person. Using QF points for CNS-BNE-LAX it was $267.40 per person!

From now on my DONE4's will only be little ones - no more than 42K miles ;)

Do we get a link to the routing? Also what record are you aiming for? Most qpoints? Most SCs Most miles? Most awkward connections?

Remember I have actually only done 3 DONE4's ((SOB impending at a mere 41 K miles...)

I might give you a run for your money in miles per hour though ;)

Here's the basic DONE4 - only partly booked of course because it goes well into 2008.

NRT-oPVG-xHKG-oBKK//HKG-oSYD-oCNS-oSYD-oCNS-oSYD-oJFK//ATL-xDFW-oPSP-xDFW-oSFO-xDFW-oYVR-oLHR-oIST-oMAD-oAMS-NRT

The only records I'm in the running for are most associated flights and now maybe, as NM has worried me, highest fines. And there are no mileage runs in it so it isn't particularly long. :D

Associated flights include CNS-NRT, BKK-HKG, SYD-ADL, ADL-SYD, JFK-BOS, BOS-JFK,SFO-AKL, AKL-SYD, SYD-CNS ,CNS-BNE, BNE-LAX, LAX-SFO, DFW-MEX, MEX-CAN, CAN-MEX, MEX-DFW, IST-ATH, NRT-SYD, SYD-CNS.

I'm still playing round with some of the detail. For example there is a great MEX-YVR on JL on the right day of the week too. Only problem is that we are in MEX for a conference, a huge 20,000 people one, and I am sure that when I get to a stage I can re-issue the ticket that flight wont be available because of demand.

Oh well, its good to have such problems.

Oh dear.... I'm coming close at 14 extra flights.

Extras:
MEL-HKG-NRT
FCO-LGW-AMS
AMS-LGW-BCN
BCN-ZRH-FCO
LAX-LAS
LAS-SFO
SYD-MEL
MEL-SYD
HKG-TPE
TPE-HKG

How about "Most Lost Luggage"

That is harsh! The most transits I have on any day is one and none them involve carrier changes and none are through LHR. Life is full of risks!

I can think of a few that would like to think they have been the worst record for lost luggage... wonder if JohnK is reading this, hope he is finally sorted out.

You called?

My DONE4 was CMB-[BKK]-HKG-NRT-HKG-AKL-MEL-PER-CNS-MEL,SYD-[HKG]-LHR-DXB-LHR-LAX-DFW-SEA-DFW-ANC-DFW-JFK-[YVR]-HKG-[SIN]-CMB.

No longer legal of course.

Ancillary Flights:

MEL-SYD-SIN-CMB
MEL-SYD
LAX-SYD-MEL
MEL-AKL-LAX
HKG-SYD-MEL
MEL-HKG
CMB-SIN-HKG-MEL

Summary:

20 with DONE4
04 single flight # CNX
14 Ancillary flights.
38 Total Flights Flown

 Frightening when I look back at it!

How did the old rules work?

Only flown segments count towards the limit of 20 segments.
CNS-PER wasn't a transcon.

Going further back... once upon a time there wasn't even a 20 segment limit, just the individual continent limits (4 flights per continent, 6 in Nth Am). And for payment, an xONEx had a similar Canadian exception as the RWSTAR which allows an itinerary issued in Canada to be fared as that of the country of departure, even if the latter attracts a lower fare.

How times have changed. ;)

I wonder whether Kiwi Flyer (on Star tickets) would give turtlemichael and serfty a push??
Talked to him about this on the weekend ... the short answer is certainly!

  • MEL-SYD surface segment would make this a 21 "segment" routing.
  • MEL/PER segments were not included in the Oz Transcon limit, so MEL-PER-CNS was valid.

Oops, meant to type MELPER instead of PERCNS.

I just realised that I have to buy 2 additional flights to visit TPE (HKG-TPE-HKG), pushing my additionals to 16 flights. Just need two more to beat turtlemichael. ;)
