Having successfully requested many domestic points upgrades over the years, I'm familiar with the process. Wherever possible, I check award seat availability to find a flight where my upgrade can be immediately approved.

I've booked some flights for next year with ample business award seat availability, which usually means I'll get my upgrade on the spot. However they're currently just showing as "Requested".

Has there been a change to how upgrade requests are processed, or is there possibly an issue with the booking/upgrade system? A QF rep I spoke to was not especially helpful.

I've had this happen in the past when I requested the upgrade immediately after booking, before it was actually ticketed. The requests just seem to go into a black hole and never get actioned. Solution was to cancel the request and immediately re-request it.

If cancelling and re-requesting the upgrades doesn't work as per Opusman's instructions, you will need to call QF to have them action the upgrade manually. This glitch has been around for a long time.

Ahh, thank you both for your help. I've tried to cancel and re-request but to no avail. I'll give QF a call and update this post with the result.

Mentioning that you can see "U" Class available so the upgrade should be clearing should be the prompt required.

One final update - this was solved with a brief phone call. Thank you for the solid gold advice!

I’ve noticed for the past 6 months or so that when on multi sector bookings with QantasLink and then mainline and vv the upgrades need a phone call after request even with classic reward availability. Call to QFF usually sorts but sometimes response is you’ll have to wait until 24 hours before flight. HUCA sorts this out.
