Does classic award flight count as "eligible" QF flight to help gain status?

I am flying a quite a few international flights CX J in the next 12 months. Status will go up to Gold except that I need my 4 eligible QF flights as well as status credits. If I book classic awards will these count as eligible qantas flights?? - or do I need to book ASA awards which seem to eat up a lot more points.
 
No status points earned on Classic, but if your find one at right points follow this.

You may need to call a few to get an operator that knows the ropes as many have found.

Its called by Q an enhancement (not).

No. Classic count for nothing in terms of status, points or ~
 
Ok and thanks! Looks like I'll have to try the phone option for cheaper ASA - it would be much easier if you could still do this online!

It its on CX metal it wont help, wont earn points or SCs, I realise the OP is looking for the four segments, just thought I would mention it anyway!

Cx flights are booked and paid so should earn points and SCs - just need 4 little domestic flights as well to get my 4 eligible segments! ... and then extra status :)
