Do Qantas keep notes on their frequent flyers?

Now that Q are back in the profits as per news .........adding a few more wine varietals may not break the budget.

I think they should add more to the special meal requests now ........after all the employees got a "bonus".

This would be a great use of the info they have on us to give that extra little bit for CL and say P1. too many WP's, Golds etc I think to make it work on a mass scale, but what a nice touch it would be if a FA discretly said to you "Oh, we have some X should you like it" - further, it could be generic - I mean I prefer a sweeter white wine and when all there is a is Chardy or Sauv Blanc (I'm looking at YOU Shaw & Smith!) then that's not my thing, but something like "We have a Rieseling if you'd prefer" might be nice, or something like that.

Perhaps if you're in the highest available cabin they could load a bottle of your favourite before each flight. But then, tastes change - and this adds a few extra KG to each flight. Not to mention the product wastage! I'm sure airlines have done studies on if people drink the same wine in the air home as in the lounge, at home, when eating out and so on. Do most pax tend to try new flavours in the air? Keeping in mind things taste different in pressurised cabin.

I checked into a hotel recently and they noted "Would you like a copy of X newspaper like last time?" and that was a perfect use of technology rather than "Which paper would you like in the morning?" airlines can (and some are better than others) at delivering on these kinds of things...

People still read newspapers? ;)

Many years ago SIN-PER I had a fortunate upgrade (no longer remember the details) but at about that time QF was changing the schedule to arrive in PER at a ridiculous time (0400 or there abouts) and the head CC member knew nothing about (over a public 5 minute discussion) the schedule being changed... I wonder what my entry into their notes might have been (well pre-iPad)

I do know that my iPad profile says I like to be called by my first name - and often the CSM comments on this. I'm also hoping (!!) that it has a listed preference for F champagne when seated in J (as has happened three or four times)!!

My folks recently went flew, mel-hkg(qf) hkg-nrt(cx) hnd-syd(qf). On qf ticket. They also went on a one week cruise japan-south Korea-japan booked directly with princess cruises. Upon boarding hnd-syd (J points upgrade) (both bronze) the csm greeted them with the ipad and said "oh you went on a cruise? How was it?" that looked surprised as qf had no way of knowing they went on a cruise. How do you think that happened? Data sharing with other travel providers or lucky guess? :)

haha! nothing I swear! :) I'm just curious as to what the cabin crew/check in staff etc can see about me...trust me it's all good! but i'm curious about the behaviour I often see in others on board!

Why not ask the CSM if you can have at look at their iPad.
I politely asked and was shown.

I don't really like to drink wine, but I feel it is impolite to refuse an offer if someone makes it. I hope my politeness is noted in the app.

Maybe they mentioned it to an FA on an earlier flight? And it was noted in the ipad?

I am flying MEL-LAX-MEL in a couple of weeks in F. I just may ask. it's a bloody long flight both ways :)

I wonder if that's just a generic comment made to platinum/P1s to make them feel speshul.

Reminds me of my first ever visit to the SYD Flounge - "Welcome back Mr Stewart" :)
I chuckled to myself, but it's still a nice touch IMO.

I wonder what the repercussions would mean, if one of the above scenarios had occurred? they obviously wouldn't take away your status privileges, so I wonder what it would mean for a FF if they do keep something negative on record? Who gets to access the records? or would they just put a red flag against you for example when you check in? would the check in person be able to see if there was something negative on file? or the cabin crew? this is what I'm curious about...

Wow, there you go! I wonder if anyone's suffered any consequences after behaving badly on a flight? Like if you're "tagged" somehow?

I'd be surprised if QF didn't keep info on such problems.Very probable that there is more information available than that available on the Ipads.
I have recounted my experience with AA here before but some years ago we missed our MIA-LGA flight due to late incoming flight and MIA Immigration.I had an upgrade to F on the missed flight. The transfer agent could only get us into Y on any other flight that day but did say she would let the gate agent know.Arriving at the gate I went to the gate agent who was dealing with a very forceful fellow demanding his upgrade. She kept telling him the flight was full. When she turned to me she repeated that but said can I have a look at your BPs.She then tore them up and handed me 2 new BPs for F.The fellow was still standing nearby and went ballistic then started shouting how he was an EXP and deserved the upgrade. When he walked off I asked the agent how I as a mere plat got the upgrade over him.She said that everytime he contacted AA it was a complaint whilst I would thank them when I got good service-You were always going to get the upgrade.

All true! I never quite hit the baggage weight so maybe I could be entitled to a few more kilos?

If I know something tastes great in a pressurised cabin, I'll want it all the time! :p

Cream comes in pressurised cans (I know not cabins ) but the pressurised one is so much more fun and frothier than the plastic bottle ones .

It is a much better benefit to have your politeness noticed on AFF...

They absolutely keep notes. I was a bronze member but was personally welcomed by the cabin manager and told that I had missed out on my chosen meals on my most recent flights and they wanted to make sure I get my meal of choice. I ordered before take off and was delivered my meal before the official meal service. Well done Qantas.

I wish they would take note of, and act on, things like "does not drink alcohol".:-|

Can't you just request the information under freedom of info?

Not under FOI but under the Australian Privacy Principles any individual can request the information held on them https://www.oaic.gov.au/agencies-and-organisations/business-resources/privacy-business-resource-16

Crew would be trained to only take notes that are relevant to the service they provide. Anything objective could be serious if the pax requested their info as above. An individual who misbehaves or drinks to much would have something on the profile prompting crew to consider RSA or to slow their serving of drinks to the customer.

Surprised no-one has mentioned the obvious icons which crew are supposed to add your hair colour to make you easily identifiable on future flights.

I have had a CSM comment on previous catering failures. He mentioned that he saw it on my profile.
