It never was going to be anything else. This is the only J class configuration available on Embraer E Jets. Don't know why there was some sort of "hype" or "mystery" surrounding this:confused:

Big fat whatever from me.

They absolutely do - I personally earned velocity points and status credits for flights on EY metal late last year (three flights had a VA flight number - i.e. codeshare - and 1 was an EY flight number).
chrisjrn, it'd be great if you could clarify your statement - do you mean EY codeshares on other (i.e. not VA or their partner) carriers?

I'm not chrisjrn, but I do I recall the VA rep stating on this board that only flights on a partner's own metal earn points / SCs, with a single exception for Delta Connect codeshares. ie if you travel on an EY code on Air Berlin metal, there's no earn.

Obviously VA codeshares on anyone's metal would earn (just as Etihad members probably earn miles when travelling on Air Berlin codeshares).

Anything over about 6 hours on high speed trains for me.

I see they’re choosing Sabre for their system too, what do they use now and what will this upgrade mean?

Interesting to note that the last link to the old name has gone, the ASX code has been changed from VBA to VAH (Virgin Australia Holdings)

I'm interseted in what this "Concierge Service " will include.

Will a supermodel carry me from the Carpark to the Aircraft?

I had a bit of a chuckle at JBs use of the now infamous word "enhancements". Either no one has mentioned to him, the stigma now associated with the word in Australian aviation circles, or he was being "courageous" (as Sir Humphry Appleby would have said), or perhaps he was having a private industry dig at QF ;).

Nice profit margin. I doubt it is anywhere near peaking though and still a pittance compared to the big 4 bank (robbers).

I didn’t think you’d want a supermodel carrying you ;)

I’m sure there’s a thread I’ve overlooked, but with that change there’s now a plan to make a second unlisted company to allow more foreign investment. Can someone explain what this means please?

Basically, an Australian international airline can have at most a 49% foreign ownership, so they are basically proposing to put Virgin International into a separate unlisted company.
While at the date the split occurs (if it occurs), the two airlines will have the same set of owners (the shareholders of VAH will become shareholders in VAIH), market trading in shares will basically be the domestic airline. This frees VAH from the same 49% restriction, that VAIH will have.

Crikey has a summary of the situation:
Virgin Australia to split airline to fit in Etihad stake | Plane Talking

But essentially Australian airlines flying internationally must be no more than 49% foreign owned. But a purely domestic airline can be 100% foreign owned (such as Tiger). Currently, Virgin Australia is 26% owned by Richard Branson and 20% by Air NZ. So not much room to play with if other players from offshore want to make an investment before the 49% cap is reached. By doing the split, further foreign capital can be invested into the domestic airline whilst keeping foreign ownership of the international airline under 49%.

Is there any more detail of what the 777 refit will entail?

Does anyone know where i can find a video from the half yearly results presentation?
Cheers
