Disgusting treatment of facilities by J PAX in Melbourne

Obviously you have not read the entire thread - the rant is about the <mess that was left> on the floor

Big deal, the post still has pretentious<ness> written all over it. As others have suggested, you've made some gross assumptions and blindly decided to have a whinge. That's fair enough in todays age of anonymous Internet freedom, but so are the retaliations to such posts.

It's pretentious to expect people to have some respect for the lounge and respect for other people using the lounge? Ok then

I might go watch some episodes of IT Crowd.

I can't believe the OP has this much spare time to photograph it and then write a long presumptuous post about the kind of person, or 'class' of person that was sitting there. Look at it and be disgusted by all means, but seriously, who cares?

I don't know what is worse

The mess all over the floor or the amount of wasted food

:)

Unfortunately the floor looks like your stock standard J* floor/seats after the first sector to or from OOL ;)

Believe it fella!

i have a life that affords me the time to travel to Melbourne on the weekend whenever I feel like (that's tongue in cheek in case you miss it)

I have achieved the desired effect by making this thread - it was obviously you and milky in the lounge on the weekend, hence the don't care. (another tongue in cheek - just in case again!)

Who cares? A lot of us who have to use these lounges on a daily / weekly basis and ourselves treat them as we would treat it if it were our own.

@milky - please explain <what> gives you the right to attack me like that?

Would I leave a mess like that intentionally? No I wouldn't.
Would I be happy if someone else left a mess like that intentionally? No I wouldn't.
Would I jump straight onto an Internet forum and whinge about how unclean the floors were in an airport lounge? No I wouldn't.
If I was that disgusted with the state of a particular area of the lounge, would have I gone and notified a cleaner or lounge attendant so they could deal with it? Yes I would.

You obviously don't have kids. Despite most parents best efforts (and I say most because there are some despicable parents out there), there are times where your best efforts just aren't enough to prevent kids from tearing the joint up, to which most parents would be deeply apologetic about their kids actions.

yes it was us, but oops, how could it have been, this sort of thing would never have been done by a oneworld emerald!! heavens no, and both milky and I are oneworld emerald. So I guess it rules us out. As you say, must have been one of those people using points to upgrade who simply do not belong there.

Why you feel the need to brag about your life (whether you add the tongue in cheek comment or not doesn't really matter), I do not know. Having the time to travel is something most people on this forum have, but to go to this length to whinge about a dirty table.... is another thing entirely.

People, the topic here relates to treatment of facilities at the Melbourne domestic Business lounge.

Please refrain from comment on other members.

The OP has already posted that he made assumptions that were probably wrong so therefore I have to ask what is the point of your post other than to attack the OP?

The OP was in a lounge to do precisely that. (lounge). That is where most of us have spare time. You have made many presumptions in your post starting with the OP having no spare time. What if his flight was an hour late or ......?

[mod hat]If you don't care or you are going to attack other posters then do not post :!: Pretty simple really. [mod hat off]

Forgive me, but the style of those chairs is more of an affront to my sense of taste than the mess on the floor.

But if you'd care to take a pic, I'm guaranteeing with what I've seen the way people behave..you would prob be up for Man of the Year :)
Too embarassing to take a photo. Either that or I don't want people reminding me how messy I am.

As for Man of the Year I wouldn't have a chance even if I was the only person nominated. ;)

For the record it was munitalP who created this thread not me! :p

I'm new to AFF - this is certainly an interesting post!

I think people should clean after themselves in general, but also agree with others that class of QFF or OW membership has nothing to do with it. I'm a bronze frequent flyer - hope to be silver soon (I travel a lot personally but have always lost out by a few SC's) - but from reading many posts on these forums I'm getting a real sense of people looking down on others simply because they are at a lower membership level! I've been into the business class lounge a few times (hopefully a lot more as I now travel for work), but regardless of my membership level I have never left the place in a mess.

Just my two cents.

I think it's a matter of respect. Regardless of what FF status you have, what ticket you bought or even where you are it is good manners to clean up after yourself and shows a lack of respect for other patrons and staff if you leave a mess.

Despite my personal feelings about leaving a mess, I believe that these places need to be tidy because ultimately people are paying for the privilege to be there. I don't have a DYKWIA attitude and I care not whether the culprits are WP's or guests as they should consider those other than themselves. And when they don't the owner of the lounge should ensure its kept tidy.

If you went to a bar or a restaurant (even a McDonald's) you expect better so why not at airport lounges?

I must admit the I am finding it a little difficult to fathom the heat that this thread has generated. To me, it is elementary. You don't treat public areas like pig pens. Surely it's a question of manners and respect -- for oneself and others. These are public areas and care is needed for all of us to enjoy them, collectively. Whether it is the J lounge at Melbourne airport or the McDonalds on the Hume Highway at Goulburn, we all have an obligation to leave the area in a reasonably tidy manner. To do otherwise is thoughtless and selfish.

Well since we have established by anecdotal evidence that both J points flyers and OWE flyers may have suspect manners then the only solution is to ban both sets of them from the J lounge and leave it for paid J pax only.

The mess is bad, no doubt about it. What stunned me was the fact that the OP had the gall to make accusations that the person who did it likely did not have status and most likely were on a points upgrade and implied they did not belong in the lounge. Also that it would warrant a photo and a thread on this forum, people are pigs, we all know that.
