It's a tough gig to book and travel that many worth of SC's with 23 days all up to do it.

How much free time do you have?

I have got about 12 days all up spare time between FIFO.

280 SCs here if you are free, booked as a JASA on the phone for 48000 points + $300 odd from memory

Brisbane is where i am starting from

I got that the first time, which is why I presented TSV as an option requiring a flight up, and you can sleep at home the first night of the trip ;) You wont get much better options that haul as much at that rate, the other main BNE one is to KTA but hard to book and rare, no chance with three weeks.

If you can book a BNE-TSV return flight as a JASA to meet markis10's option, the SCs altogether you would receive would meet your target.

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Hi Everyone
Relative newbie here
I'm looking at taking up my DSC offer in November (pretty much the last dates I'm eligible)
I'm thinking:
MEL>SYD>CHC>SYD>MEL in J
for 240SC x 2

Just a couple question that I hope some people wouldn't mind answering

1) would I get double SC for the entire booking on the one ticket or just MEL>SYD?
2) If i choose the Emirates option (the superior trans-tasman metal) with a QF flight number, does it still qualify?
3) The cost is coming in at $1300 + 50k points - does them seem reasonable?
I'm MEL based and happy to go anywhere for the same or cheaper price, as long as it's in November 2013 and am very open to suggestions

Thanks in advance

HI anat01.

BNE to TSV return is 48k points +$77 which is a lot cheaper than my Mel to Bne flight for 48k +$287.70!

So i may try that one next time, but isnt the SC only 50 each way to TSV?
I thought my trip was 60 Sc's each way?

Both are in the same status band - 60 each way in J

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

ok, i get you now.

Any idea why i was charged $287.70 for the mel-bne-mel JASA booking when the rate appears to be $73.70 in classic?

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

JASA's are more expensive as you are paying for FFP and SC's.

JASA's are more expensive as you are paying for FFP and SC's.

And some routes considerably more than others.

The golden triangle is almost off limits to ASAs now (both J and Y ones) for this reason (the cash co-pay on Classic points cost).

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Hi Team, Im a newbie - thanks for great forum.

I need about 190 SCs before the end of the year to keep gold. I am based in ADL. I have tried many options Q site but cant get close to the value of ASAs posted here?
Any suggestions much appreciated.

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

MEL-xSYD-ASP give you the same SCs for around $380 + 48k

I tried booking MEL>SYD>ASP>SYD>MEL for November in Business on qantas.com.au and it came in at a whopping $2597.90 + 50k points

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

You can't book online. You need to find classic award space then call up to book it as an ASA in U class (for business class)...

That's right. I bought 2 of these back in June for early next year at the price and points that I have quoted. I had to phone up to get the MASAs though. Take a look at the sticky http://www.australianfrequentflyer....t-flyer-program/asa-change-summary-52004.html and other threads. I can assure you, papermate92, that is the price I paid.

Look for avalability of classic award seats in J to TSV return, when found ring and book as per the sticky:

http://www.australianfrequentflyer....t-flyer-program/asa-change-summary-52004.html

Its 120 SC each way
