Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Someone mentioned on the other thread, apparently SYD-MEL-SIN in economy (paid fare via expedia brazil) can be a good value too. 80SC return for 480$ (160SC with DSC), plus you gain around 8k points (16k for WP). Can be done in a day and a night :-D

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Following some domestic and overseas travel over the next few months I will still need an extra 70 SC to meet silver (my flying is predominantly cnb-syd discount y). From a quick look one possibility would be cnb-mel or cnb-syd business return for 80 sc - or a longer business one way and y return. Any suggestions on the most economical way to get 70 sc on a return flight from canb? Am ok with multiple cities, especially if in j - and have points I could use but not no concerned if use points or cash or combo. Cheers!

do you have points to burn for a JASA?

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Yeah using points for a JASA would be an option - should have near 150k by then so happy to burn some if that's the best option.

Burning 64000 on a CBR HBA via SYD run x 2 would get you Gold, if you have a international trip coming up the extra points ear from being Gold would go towards paying back some of those points, and then you have lounge access as well etc etc.

Its always worthwhile working out the earn potential of future flights, sometimes spending now gets paid back in the future.

Thanks markis10 - yes have looked at that routing previously - As my member year expires on the 31Oct, current plan was to reach silver by then, and then gold the next year....but you raise a good point re: lounge access - have to do some more sums :). Thanks!

Status run tomorrow (Friday 26th). BNE-MEL-PER-KTA. JASA. Wish me luck on my tour of airport lounges. Overnight in KTA and then the return trip Saturday.
MEL-SYD-ASP return the following Saturday for WP.

Good luck. I'm doing this soon - looking forward to finding out if there's such a thing that will pass for a lounge in KTA :) I don't think I've ever been anywhere that only has two options for accommodation on online booking engines

What results did you get? I went with Ibis purely for the Accor points. Keep your lounge expectations low for the KTA regional lounge and you'll judge it as cosy and adequate.

I hope to re book and not sure where u are staying but the Hilton at Auckland were very understanding when I had to cancel at short notice and would not hesitate booking there again

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

I thinking of doing the trip to Auckland - fly over from Brisbane and arrive midnight, stay at airport and get back on the 6am flight home ends up being $330 and the remaining 80 sc needed due to DSC promo. Factor in duty free and very very little time commitment I think this is a good option, did look at Singapore but too much time away.

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

Staying Holiday in near airport, looks OK for an overnighter was $115.

Maybe we could all meet up on the 18th in AKL for a feed?.

I'm on the 09.30 am BNE to AKL. Didn't select the late flight out of BNE , I guess with ground clearance barely have few hours rest.
