I need to go from MEL to Tunisia in early April, and return a couple of weeks later.

I want to maximize my QF SC earning. Ideally I can earn 300-400 SC on this trip. But I can't afford to buy a J ticket MEL-TUN (pricing at $9k and also there is no QF codeshare on DXB-TUN).

I'm willing to book separate tickets, multiple connections via Asia, DXB, SIN, etc. I can do stopovers. I am very flexible.

CMB-xDOH-TUN in QR J is $3.5k for 360 SC.

The MEL-CMB UL direct flight would match up nicely, but at $4.5k for 120 SC it's a pretty woeful earn. Would be a good use of QFF points if you can find award space.

Neither fare seems to allow end-on-end combinations so I don't think they can be booked on the one PNR, but it's worth discussing with a good TA if you are considering booking both as revenue fares.

Heya, out of curiosity - how did you manage to book DPS to BKK for A$1200 ? I tried doing it on QF website, BKK is not listing as a destination when DPS is the source?
My apologies, I haven't been here for a couple of days, yes it was a MH booking from KL.

CGK-DOH-FCO on QR for $3200 and 320SC’s
SYD-CGK on QF for $2400 and 240SC’s
Only an hour flight from FCO-TUN so just pick up a cheap Y or J fare on any airline (probably $400-500 on AZ in J)
That’s gets the price back to $6k or if you want to save a bit more maybe do SYD-CGK in Y for $800 and that cuts the price back to just over $4k.

I was going to suggest this but OP is based in MEL, so they'd be taking at least 5 flights on 3 separate tickets going via CGK.

If they were open to that number of flights and want to extract max SC I think MEL-xSYD-CGK-(xKUL?)-CMB-xDOH-TUN would be a better option

Ah, yes MEL.
Plenty of creative options if you want to take multiple flights on separate tickets

Thanks all. Some interesting options there. I'm not married to J class, just mainly booking it for the SC, although for the long legs I'd hope to be in J.

CMB is a good one as I've been wanting to go to Sri Lanka for some time anyway.

Last year I did a SC run with VA and got a EY flight HKG-EU return in J for around $3k. Was hoping to find something similar. But it seems difficult to get it below $4k on my dates.

Two other starting points to consider are ICN (440 SC for $3.5k) and TPE (CX to HKG then QR to DOH, 520 SC for $4k)

Both starting points are Q Suites to DOH, then QR 1-2-1 reverse herringbone A350 to TUN.

From CGK you can get to many EU hubs for <$3.5k on QR, but once you factor in the price of getting to CGK and then to TUN it's less attractive.

I have to get 60 status credits - have 11 days to make it to silver. Any suggestions? I live between Gold Coast and Brisbane airports.
Well it actually will depend on how much travel you plan to take in your next travel year.
50% additional points may be worth it if you have a long haul holiday planned. Or if you could use (and can schedule) a long weekend away now. Jetstar MAX fare BNE-CNS round trip will give you the 60 SC for less than $400 Fri night to late Sunday...

Happy wandering
Fred

Have found two interesting DPS-DOH runs which could complement a QF DSC trip quite nicely (and potentially even connect to a Doha to Europe award)

DPS-KUL-CMB-DOH - UL fare IE3MMID6
Prices at ~$1800 for 440 SC or $4.40/SC
Can route A330 the whole way, DPS-KUL on MH then KUL-CMB-DOH on UL
Stopovers: 1 FREE IN CMB, 2 IN SOUTHEAST ASIA AT USD 25.00 EACH, 1 IN CMB AT USD 25.00.
No minmum stay
3 months maximum stay
Changes IDR 795000 (~$82)
Cancellations IDR 1386000 (~$145)

DPS-KUL-DOH - MH fare DBZ1YID
Prices at ~$2050 for 320 SC or $6.40/SC
Can route MH A330 and Qatar A359 Q Suites!
Stopovers: IDR 300000 ($30) each
No minimum stay
12 months maximum stay
Changes - seemingly free?!
Cancellations 100 USD

Both fares are eligible for Al Mourjan access in Doha on the return leg. Enjoy.
Hi sbor90, I tried booking the DPS-DOH (IE3MMID6) fare you mentioned above on the UL website, however DPS is not selectable - can you advise how best to book this please....

can you advise how best to book this please....

I'm not sure whether the fare is still live, but If you want to book directly with UL I would suggest contacting their Indonesian office -

Telephone : +622130014969
Email : [email protected]
Operating Hours : Monday to Friday (08:30 to 17:30) SAT - 0830 - 1200 hrs.

They might try to charge a manual booking fee, but you could try asking for it to be waived as DPS isn't a valid origin on their site.

Otherwise talk to a TA, or construct it using ITA Matrix and book through an OTA with Powertools.

I'm looking to get 175 status credits before March 31st in order to retain platinum... Based out of Sydney. Best I can come up with is business sale to Christchurch (80+80SC bonus) returning on QF emirates economy sale (20SC) for $798. If anyone has any thoughts on a cheaper way I'd be much obliged!
