re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Good morning Poochie, for a newbie which airport is CHC please?

For anyone wanting QF SC runs, but can't get up to travel Asia or US where cheaper status per $ can be obtained, QF seems to having some specials, Aud$780 CHC - BNE - SYD in J. Aud$6.50 per QF SC.
(I am currently looking at holding QF PS for the rest of my life, am looking at end Sept/early Oct 17.)
While I do realise the aim is to get about the Usd$1.05 per QF SC, for some of us its not easy or possible to position into Asia or the US to start the SC runs.
Just putting it out there that QF does have good(ish) deals going TransTasman at the moment.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

I have a very limited opportunity to do an MR in the US during November.
Will be based out of ATL and have from late on the 10th Nov (i.e. 8pm+) to 12th Nov (11am) for the MR (need to be back in ATL then for my return flights).

Looking at just the Friday:
ATL-LAX-LAS-CLT-ALT 300SC's for US$1035 US$3.45 per SC which is not great but acceptable I guess and can be done in a day.

Note: partner earn table and Qantas calculator seem to disagree on LAS-CLT earnings (120 vs 150) - which takes precedence?

Any other suggestions? Can do an overnight if it's worth it.

Thanks in advance...

I don't see a difference between the two. LAS-CLT I would define as West Coast USA to East Coast USA. If in First the table says 150 SC's. The calculator also shows 150 SC's for LAS-CLT city pair (with AA as the carrier).

There's a day run from MCO return which will get you 360 SC for ~USD760. PM if you want the details.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Hi all,

Would anyone have details for a run between 14/11 and 21/11 leaving from LAX. I would love to know Madrooster's 14 segment YVR-PTY run but unfortunately I do not yet have enough posts for a PM. My membership year starts 1/11 and I would like to get as many SCs as possible before the domestic AA flights are re-coded. I do not mind re-positioning anywhere to start the run but I am really looking for the lowest $/SC. If I can get somewhere close to the 1200 SCs in one or more runs would be terrific. Appreciate any ideas or assistance. The best I have managed to find so far is around 650 SCs for $1300US.

Many thanks - I was using the distance of 1916 miles to calculate the points but you're right in that they fall into the West Coast and East Coast categories.

The earning tables would take precedence as they are published. The calculator is a 'tool' which may have errors.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Hi All, I have a US run which is high on $$$, but short on time.

The summary:
* 10 legs
* 3 days duration
* All domestic US, with no overnight legs
* Each leg is (current earn) 90 SCs in F
* mid-morning LAX start - can arrive from Aus 'same day' (+0)
* evening LAX finish - can depart for Aus 'same day' (+2)
* including positioning flight from/to Aus, can be done in 4 days total duration

Total 900 SCs for approx USD2.2k - USD2.5k, excluding positioning flights.

Would suit someone who cares more about efficient use of time over $$$ - but without the sleep-sapping overnight legs.

Cheers,

C.

Have just been reading about AA re-coding F to J on this thread , is this for certain ?

QR has a Business Promo sale. Good price CMB-xDOH-CAI but you need a minimum 5 nights before the return. I priced a J/F combo, the DOH-CAI leg is marketed as F (books into A class) but a 2-class 777 operates the flight which means you get a J seat. QR markets the leg as First so high rollers can use their First lounge at DOH.

Example:

QR 665 CMBDOH 17MAY 1050 1305 Business (R)
QR 1301 DOHCAI 17MAY 1415 1645 First (A)

QR 1304 CAIDOH 22MAY 1300 1715 First (A)
QR 668 DOHCMB 22MAY 1850 0200# Business (R)

LKR 65923 (~AUD 605)

If it can be confirmed the marketed A class returns First Class status credits then this is 460SC (according to the QF SC calculator).

Yes for certain. And additionally the luggage allowance will also be reduced for F passengers from 3 to 2
The baggage allowance changed some time ago. It's not related to this change.
