Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

This stellar run for USD405 was posted on FlyerTalk a couple of days ago:

LAX-LAS-PHX-PHL-CLT-MIA-PTY

I believe it earns 470 SCs and a little under 14k QFF points. Departs LA in the late afternoon, travel through the line and reach Panama about 8pm the next day.
The PTY leg books into I class.

I make it 320 ...

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Thanks for that, yes last night I booked a SYD - AKL Return in J for $1199 return, will get 160 SC which is pretty good.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

Just grabbed an AU-NZ run for 600SC at AUD2.93/SC (With 50%SC bonus). Without the bonus it would be 400SC at AUD4.4/SC.

Might not suit everyone as it's ex-DRW and requires an overnight in either SYD or MEL.

Hi Captain Halliday, I tried to figure out how to get 400SC from DRW to AKL, CHC, ZQN, WLG. Can only seem to get 320SC not 400SC. Can you give me a small clue which city in NZ or which city in AU you went through?

Many thanks.

There must be 3 segments involved in both directions. 2 domestic Australian and then one across the ditch.

I would have thought it would be DRW-SYD/MEL-AKL booked as a "F" fare, with "J" domestic sectors.

so each way, say DRW-SYD-AKL 80+120SC=200SC r/t = 400SC

though I suspect it may be a little more as SYD-DRW booked in J or C (vs D or I) would be 95? SC?

so I'm thinking it could be 430 SC :D

but at the very least DRW-SYD (in regular J) is 160 SC r/t and SYD-AKL?CHC in F is 240SC r/t.

Thanks for that Richard.

Captain mentioned that it is 400SC at $4.4/SC which means it is $1,760 return. F to AKL is at least $1.3K O/W, so that rules out F.

I know how to do it from NZ when on special, but I would like to know how to get 600SC cheap, especially when I recently received a 50% bonus SC offer.

Any ideas?

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

OK how about a one way DRW-SYD/MEL-AKL ex-AU, then a r/t from NZ as one of the sale fares, would probably foot the bill.

skyscanner prices out a return ex-DRW at $3905, so I could see shaving a grand off ex-NZ as... potentially possible.

the other option is a J run DRW-SYD-MEL/AKL under the current NZ sale and an internal flight or two on JQ

I am sure the Captain can explain though.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

pardon me. I misread the post from the Captain and thought it said $2,930 for some reason not $2.93/SC. duh.

yeah OK I have no real explanation for it other than the sales going on. there is the current J sale a $600ish SYD/MEL/BNE-NZ so I have to guess it piggy backs on that.

There's no sale on in F ex-NZ at the moment, so option 1 might be too expensive.

I like option 2, but a simple DRW-AKL search does not turn up any option that goes through both SYD and MEL. I will probably look at the multi-city search for that.

Also, by internal JQ flight, do you means AU JQ flight or NZ JQ flight? Do NZ JQ flights earn SC?

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

True no ez-NZ sale right now, but they are pretty regular

I imagine DRW-xBNE-xMEL-AKL/WLG may also be in the mix

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

If you have already got a booking, they have to cancel that booking, and refund you the $, and make a new booking for you and your "shadow/invisible friend".
You can't just add comfort seat to a current booking.
If you have not yet made the booking, then telephone 131313 and tell them you want a comfort seat request, and they will do the booking for you.
Pretty much defeats the purpose if you have an $89 booking but current airfares are $155 + comfort seat.

Apologies, I wasn't trying to be cryptic. you're right, it's not In F. Medhead nailed it.

it DRW-MEL-SYD-CHC, so 80+40+80 and then the same return. I'm adding MEL as my extra city, but the same SC total can be done with BNE instead of MEL.

The QF website won't give this result. You'll need ITA Matrix or google flights and then book by phone.

when I looked on the weekend there was availability most weekends through to August, but I've just run July again for the sake of it and doesn't seem to be there.

Has the Trans Tasman J sale finished? I booked mine without a problem on Sunday.

Yes, it finished on 27/4. I'm sure there will be another soon. They seem to be almost monthly these days.

Great! 27/4 means I have until the end of today to book!

Sorry Jessica for breaking the no discussion rule. Will do all future posts in the discussion thread.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

Well while not strictly SC run just a note that the just launched, 6 day long QF SC Double SC promo can make at least domestic and other QF *operated* flights be a little more cost effective for SC's :)

Thoughts on where to go in a day? Based in SYD.
Was thinking about SYD - MEL - CNS - MEL - SYD in J. $1900 with 200 SC doubled to 400.
Thinking that sounds like a terrible run though.

Just read the conditions for this double SC promo and it is just great NOT - I clicked on a 50% SC offer 2 days ago and this stupid action on my part makes me ineligible!!
I should have left registering for the offer to the last minute.
Oh well, you live and learn from your mistakes I guess :(

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

What would be the best run from MEL?

MEL - BNE - CNS return in J for 480 SCs?

Tried to lookup MEL - SYD - AKL but that route appears to be sold out. MEL - AKL direct is available.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

Bump - In light of the DSC offer today, what are the best QF domestic runs these days
