re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Hi Guys, looking for some advice moving from a mere silver to gold QFF. Currently have of 555 points looking to hit the magical 700 which require 145 additional points. I am about to book perth to melbourne on 28/10 however happy to leave a day or so earlier to get the additional status credits(or make a short trip prior). New work contract starts in november which involves a lot of travel both domestic and international so prefer to hit gold now. Membership year ends on 31/10/15 so not much time left. Based in Perth and most trips this year are regular Perth-Sydney. NOTE: I am already a member of the Qantas Club.

Cheers

Are you referring to the two flights allowed by QF a day on the multicity tool? There are ways around that and using a booking site other than QF can get around it as well.

Not to mention that domestic flights can be booked as one way legs making multi city limitations irrelevant for domestic flights.

Do you want to do a day trip to CNS?

PER-BNE-CNS in Flex $470 = 70 or
PER-MEL-CNS in Flex $463 = 70

CNS-BNE-MEL in Flex $436 = 60.

Does the return MEL-PER then give you the required SCs?

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Au to NZ and back. East coast Au.
Need to be J, both ways , $$$ I know.
80 x 2 gives 160.

No. He needs 145. Already looking to book PER-MEL as stated, which is at least 20 in discount Y, up to 80 in J, but assume 20, so that leaves 120 required.

Can be done domestically for less, eg: MEL-xSYD-OOL in flex Y can get 80, mix of Y and J could get 120 for ~$1k.

Other options may be a quick r/t PER-BME, but I've not checked pricings to see if it makes sense. Perhaps even routing PER-MEL via SYD if pricing is reasonable may also grab a few more SC's.

There are plenty of options that don't require trans-tasman travel, though I suppose OP could (maybe) do PER-AKL-MEL with AKL-MEL in J could get mostly there too.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Foxxy74, as well as the suggestion of a local run in RSA with BA/Connect etc as suggested above (my first thought) how about something semi-local with UL (Sri Lankan) to/from CMB or other points that may be cost effective? if you have time prior to November of course.

There is a possibility I will need to go to India (Hyderabad) for a few weeks before I leave. If that is the case, does anyone know what sort of points earn I would be looking at for DUR -> JNB -> DOH -> HYD return on a combination of BA and Qatar Airways?

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

And they've posted to my activity statement already.

A handy 390 SC or so for you - keeps you WP? I was going to do a SFO-CLT-PBI-CLT-DFW-ORD-SFO (550SC) but a trip to EU next year suddenly came up which will push me into WP, so I don't have to spend 24 hours visiting many US airports in an SC chase this year.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I appreciate it.

Do status credits only get posted once we fly or can I prebook ? I prefer to fly domestic on a SC run if possible.

I need to be in Melbourne on the 29/10 then fly back to WA on 01/11(membership year ends the day before on 31/10). NOTE: can't come back earlier.

Also have flights booked on 09/11 Perth - Canberra with a melbourne stopover then return via Sydney then starting 15/11 Perth - Adelaide, Adelaide - Brisbane, Brisbane - Perth

Open to do a trip via sydney or similar.

Pitty Network Aviation(Owned by Qantas) does not give status points on charter flights as I have flown 4 legs Perth - Tropicana in the past 12 months.

The flight back on 1/11 will count towards your new member year.

Once you fly

Just to expand. SC are credited according the the scheduled departure date.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

We had a double SC offer so for about $6,000 AUD Mrscove picked up 89,600 QF points and 1,040 SCs running PER-SYD-LAX and return in J. We get Aquire points as kicker. Should have gone on to New York but reticketing was too tricky as the fare was gone and the double SC deal had technically expired. I did get bonus points on my credit card to soften the blow of buying a ticket for her.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Hi all,

First post here. Normally I'm good at researching things but I've found that although there are many options I'm not sure if there are better ones? My current goal is to get around 100SC-120SC (dependant on work flying) to Qual for WP for the first time (yay! haha). I am flying out of BNE and have a few questions:

1. Would doing something like this BNE => Las Vegas (discount fare for $906 currently on ozbargain unable to post link, not enough post count), be the best way to do this (cheapest)? According to the calculator (using the assumption that the flight would be all in discount economy) gives 110SC?
2. Not sure if I was reading it right but you only get SC on Classic Reward flights when its in promotion? (currently have 100k~ points)

Hopefully what I've written makes sense.

Thanks!

Gav

Edit. My anniversary month is DEC2015!

Yes.......you could go all he way to Vegas in Y.....but that's a long way in relative discomfort if you have no other reason to go to the USA.

Why not have a look at some J fares to NZ? Won't take days at the back of the bus. You might even be able to pick up an F sales fare and go in real style and comfort.

Plus SC's re not awarded on Rewards unless there is an offer.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

FRA-MAD return on LA in J for 189 Euros and 120 SC's. Various dates.

I would definitely like to go in a premium cabin, however since there's only like 2 ish months (removing the Christmas-ish time) remaining until my rollover/anniversary date, I think my options are very limited (especially for finding a sale fare for J to NZ for less than $900 ret).

Also I am rather good at sleeping on a plane (econ or otherwise haha).

That's a long time down the wrong end of an airplane.
Why not fly to AKL, one way in J and return in Y? That'll get you ~110 SCs and should cost around $900 or even less. 3.5hrs in the back of a 737 would be far more pleasant that 15hrs in the back of a 744/A388. :)
Alternatively, you could pick up a $750 F sales price from AKL to SYD one-way and fly over there on a cheap JQ ticket.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

gavmen

what about a domestic run say OOL-SYD-MEL/CBR r/t. You could do one way in J (80SC) and the other in flex Y (40 SC) for your 120 SC.
