How many SCs do you get on QF9 MELxPER-LHR in J.

The QF SC calculator returns two possible answers: ...
Pretty sure it’s option A as the flight number doesn’t change so it’s considered as only the one flight.
Earn depends on how the travel from MEL to LHR is ticketed.

If it is MEL-LHR (i.e. booked as a single 'direct' segment) then earn is as per the former.

If ticketed as MEL-x/oPER-LHR (2 booked segments) then earn is as per the latter.

I doubt booking QF9-QF9 on the same day is possible.

I would say it's based on MEL-LHR, provided you stay on QF9 with only a transit in Perth. It would be like traveling SYD-xLAX-JFK on QF 11 or QF1 SYD-xSIN-LHR. They are considered SYD-JFK and SYD-LHR, when on the same flight number and no stopover at the intermediate point.

Odd, though, that you earn more points but less SCs MEL-LHR than you do MEL-xPER-LHR.

We have talked about comfort seats occasionally in this thread but I am wondering if anyone has experience with them - in particular:
1. Any luck buying one on another airline and crediting to QF?
2. Has anyone found any current routes that seem to have a high tax percentage?
3. According to this thread adding a seat can incur a change fee, I wonder if you could book over the phone and say "I couldn't book online so please waive operator booking fee"? If you genuinely needed the seat it could be discriminatory to charge extra given its unbookable online

Also noticed that on this page, it seems one can buy multiple comfort seats. :)

I'm not sure about your other questions because my comfort seat days are over, but I always phoned to make my comfort seat bookings from the start and never had to pay extra, as they are not available online. I never booked online first and then added after the fact, but logic would dictate that if you were able to book a second seat online, adding it to your booking after the fact, then it would incur a change fee online as well. Your best bet is to phone from the get-go and not pay the phone assistance fee because it isn't possible to do online, then you wont have to pay a change fee.

Hi all,
Hoping for some advice if I may. I will be in Bali from 13-20 February and am looking to do a quick run, either as a day trip or overnight. I need 150SC to maintain QF Gold for another year, but would be happy with a minimum of 120SC as I have a couple of flights booked before my anniversary at the end of May.

Can anybody recommend where would be best value in that period? I would prefer to fly out on the 17th or 18th if at all possible.

Thanks in advance.

See post 5173 in this thread. Or... calling @sbor90 to the white courtesy phone... ;)

I thought I felt my ears burning. DPS-xKUL-SIN is your best option at $480 for 160 SC - an even $3/SC - if you can find availability.

I wound up booking DPS-xKUL-SIN as it had the shortest flight times and reasonable layover time and was at the price advertised. As a reference point, I also saw flights to Kota Kinabalu and Miri for the same price which would i believe would nab 240 SC. Hope that helps and @sbor90 thank you for your advice and superb table.

Good pickup on the BKI and MYY options - MH haven't included those in the source which powers my spreadsheet.

Happy to hear the SIN run worked out though!

Yep, have mentioned that route in the past.
You can often get DPS-KUL-KCH-BKI in J for just over $300 one way for 140SC’s.
Requires an overnight stay in KUL but is a decent earner

HI,
Looking to sort out 130 status credits out for Syd before the end of Feb. One day/overnight or a few days is fine.
Was looking at the SYD/CHC flight (QF flight number on EK metal) in J for about $1100.

Is there a cheaper option? There is a QF sale until thursday which I was trying to leverage as well.

Cheers.

I see DPS xKUL PEN return for about $480. Pretty much the same deal as SIN, but I'd sooner spend a couple of nights in Penang.
I’m tossing up between this and DPS xKUL LGK as part of a QF DSC whenever it next occurs leveraging the new A330 SYD DPS

Don't get your hopes up.

QF DSC promotions these days rarely have eligible travel that is not QF marketed and operated.

I read it as using the QF DSC promo to fly SYD-DPS on QF, then make use of the good MH J fares for an ex-DPS run.

Friends

In optimistic anticipation if the next DSC offer - does anyone have a recommendation for a good travel agent or OTA, for booking the less obvious/direct routings listed in fare rules? And ensuring QF numbers/metal rather than other carriers?

Thanks
m
