Thanks Serfty,

I've started playing around with Google Flights.
Can't seem to find anything for <$4 per SC
After about 400 SC, not wanting to waste over 24 hr doing it, up to AUD$1.5K
That's really a tough ask in such a short time frame.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Been looking on google flights, Is there a way for it to show status/points earn or do you keep cross checking with qantas site? Whenever i check for any J seats from perth the cost is up around $1800 each way.

How many
SC's are you
chasing? 155 - Based in Perth

How much time do you have? 31st March

What is your budget ballpark? Cheaper the better

Do you want to "stop and smell the roses" along the way?
Couple days wouldn't hurt - I work FIFO so would need to try do a status run on my week off.

No, Google Flights won't show you anything related to QF.

In you're situation I'd be looking at getting to Asia during a week off for some R&R and a good status run. The last few pages of this thread have a few ideas, particularly ex-BKK. Business in Australia is rarely a good status run option on an outright purchase.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Your situation sounds very unusual. I frequently travel to NZ for one night (and have also done day trips) for business & leisure and I've never been quizzed. In addition I travel heavily for work so have lots of stamps in the passport.

The only country that have ever raised an eyebrow to my very frequent travel and short stays is Japan where I frequently get asked a lot of questions at the border.

I think it was just a bad series of unrelated events.

When I arrived back in Aus tonight the smart gate wouldn't accept my passport. No error it just said I couldn't use it. The guy at the desk said it was because I have an old series chip in my passport (it expires in 2 months) and it's no longer accepted. So this is probably why it wouldn't work for me in Auckland.

As for NZ Immi, it was just a case of a small minded officer. She even said to me as I left "I don't get out much". I'm sure most other officials wouldn't have been concerned.

In the end no harm done. It was just not a very nice welcome to the country.

There appears to be a domestic MH J sale on eg. KUL-BKI-KUL for $277 or $2.30/SC.

G'day all, long time lurker first time poster.

My Gold FF membership rolls over on 31 January, I was sat at 510 SCs and pretty much resigned to not bothering to try and reach 600 before I realised I was eligible for 50 bonus credits. As such:

How many SCs are you chasing? 40

How much time do you have? 31 January, but I probably have to fly on the weekends of 14-15 or 21-22 January

What is your budget ballpark? As cheap as possible

Do you want to "stop and smell the roses" along the way? Probably prefer not to

Thanks in advance.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

If you're on the East coast a trip to Perth and back would net you 40 for about $700 in economy. Not sure it's great value but relatively straightforward.

Would be nice to know which city you're starting from?

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Ah, apologies - Melbourne

Thanks for the suggestions thus far.

Haven't looked at other days but this is quickest/cheapest I've found so far. Are you based in Sydney?

QF2281 turns around and operates as QF2282 fwiw so not at risk of missing QF2282 in the event of a delay.

PER-BNE-CNS-SYD-PER in Flex Y nets 140SCs for under $1k and can be done in 24 hours.

For the remaining 15SC - if you are doing absolutely no other QF flying which could cover this - I'd look at PER-GER-PER red e-deal, or maybe break up the CNS runs with a quick return to BNE/TSV.

Either way will be cheaper than $1.8k.

No worries, I'd look at the same MEL-LST flights in Flex Y for a very quick 3 hour run - would be a bit more expensive though.

Or another option to save a few bucks, but would take a few more hours:

Thanks all for your assistance, very much appreciated. Booked in to do a Launceston run in a couple of weeks' time.

This is pretty good. I've got a holiday in BKK and planning to tack on a status run so will play around with options. It was about $3.10 for BKK-KUL-MNL-KUL-BKK. Will see if I can get to KUL cheaply..

How many SC are you looking for? It might be cheaper to start the run from BKK rather than repositioning to KUL.

e.g.
BKK-xKUL-CMB-xKUL-BKK - $959 & 240SCs ($3.99)
BKK-xKUL-PEK-xKUL-BKK - $1169 & 280SCs ($4.17)
