Discussion Dogs, Pups, K 9’s and man’s best friend in general [with Pictures]

The ruler of the world decided yesterday his foot hurt. As he has so many health issues local vets won't see him, soooo off to the hospital for him again.
He runs around in their waiting room. However post triage and seeing the on duty emergency vet he does have swollen joints and is in pain. $501 later we got home , with pain relief and now he is on monthly injection to help him with arthritis pain. Apparently we can buy the injections and do it ourselves. Not sure it would be worth it. Does anyone else inject their dog ?
Do human have such injections ?
Injections - in some dogs - are easy. The injection is not registered for use in humans but....a lot of ortho surgeons suggest it.

I saw the most gorgeous floofball at the park the other day - he was a Samoyed and Golden Retriever cross. Light golden colour.

I called him Mr Floof.

A Border Collie or Whippet puppy tried to play with him a few times, but Mr Floof just wanted to lie down. I didn't get a picture, but was the most gorgeous floofball.

Super glad he's not shedding in my house!! 😂

I hope you are not referring to bedinvetumab which is a canine specific monoclonal antibody.
There were trials with a human specific preparation which failed to get approval in the USA due to progression of arthritis.
BTW our 15 yo poodle has been having this for a year with improvement in function and pain.
I could give the injection but the savings are not huge.
The price of this is about 5-10% of an equivalent human monoclonal antibody.

Only just come across this thread. Been a dog lover (and owner) since my first dog - a red setter. Then a long break until I married and inherited a staffy/lab cross, then we had a greyhound/pointer? cross. Now we have a pure greyhound - the last 3 with my wife have all been rescues.

Here’s Molly:

Rescue Cavaliers . Came as a pair. Lots of people wanted one which would split them up. Luckily the dog rescue place refused until we came along and said we would take them both👍

I don't know why anyone would not want to take both as they are only 4kg each and eat very little.
I am surprised Cavs are in the rescue house. We would have also taken both without question. We used to own Cavs and ours have been blenheim and ruby.

This thread makes me jealous. I'd love to have a small dog - an oodle (as I only have a small yard) but with all my travel there hasn't been a 6 month (at least) period where we could bond before it would have to go to jail, or rellies. Next year.

And of course one of the shack-neighbours is up for the weekend with the most gorgeous and friendly golden retriever. Dark thoughts of going over and kidnapping it tonight.
