Trying to book our final leg home (SYD - PER) on Oct 4 23 after arriving from Vancouver at 0635. When I search, there are no direct J Class Award fights available, just via MEL/ADE etc.

But if I put the start city as MEL/ADE it shows J availability from the start city back to SYD and then direct to PER? So there is J availability on the direct flights from SYD to PER.

Has anyone had any luck ringing Qantas to try and secure the direct with this scenario?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Fly Virgin. Problem solved.

Some of QF award offering are just 100% stupid.

It's a married segment issue.

I would call and see what they can do. Point out you can see the seat is available MEL-SYD-PER and that you are connecting from YVR.

well...I was on the phone to Qantas.....to someone who had no clue and kept telling me to search online and as I tried to explain to her about the dog leg it was trying to send me on to the get those seats I want direct, she just hung up on me.......

Will try sending a message.......

At least there are seats via MEL. Not the worst thing in the world.

Id book via Melbourne, its not that much extra travel time and if your lucky there will be schedule change or irrops and they will put you on the direct flight anyway.

And if they dont then just think of the extra SCs you will earn (assuming you are points club).

Yup. Virtually no chance QF will release the domestic connecting sector to anyone who can’t get through to Hobart.

A message i sent to QFFF has gone unanswered for so long I’ve already taken the flights. I had to pay separately for the connector.

The available flights with the SYD-PER flight i want, start in MEL, so basically id have to book SYD-MEL and then the MEL-PER which takes me back to SYD 1st before getting on the flight I actually want SYD-PER.
