Does anyone know if there have been changes lately to the complimentary baggage allowance for for VFF Silver/Gold/Plat members?
I've been in the US for the past six weeks and taken ten or so DL flights with no issue getting the first bag free at check-in (I'm Silver). Until Monday, that is. Checked in a Boston and was forced to pay for two bags (US$60). Spent 30 minutes at the baggage drop counter trying to reason with their staff. They couldn't find anything in their policies or on their website to indicate this. I showed them this page indicating reciprocal baggage benefits. She shunned me and said I have to deal with Customer Care.
Contacted Customer Care (Delta Assist twitter page) and they confirmed their service agreement with VA indicated no reciprocity benefits, last updated July 2014 (even though the baggage benefits came in September 14 and they will not comment on the page I linked them to). Contacted VA to inquire about the service agreement and they wouldn't comment, said I had to deal with DL.
The frustrating part is that my flight on Monday was cancelled because of delays (BOS -- weather) and re-booked for today. I've just checked in and had to pay baggage fees AGAIN for the same booking (I only have one bag this time)!
