Delta Comp Baggage for VFF Members

Does anyone know if there have been changes lately to the complimentary baggage allowance for for VFF Silver/Gold/Plat members?

I've been in the US for the past six weeks and taken ten or so DL flights with no issue getting the first bag free at check-in (I'm Silver). Until Monday, that is. Checked in a Boston and was forced to pay for two bags (US$60). Spent 30 minutes at the baggage drop counter trying to reason with their staff. They couldn't find anything in their policies or on their website to indicate this. I showed them this page indicating reciprocal baggage benefits. She shunned me and said I have to deal with Customer Care.

Contacted Customer Care (Delta Assist twitter page) and they confirmed their service agreement with VA indicated no reciprocity benefits, last updated July 2014 (even though the baggage benefits came in September 14 and they will not comment on the page I linked them to). Contacted VA to inquire about the service agreement and they wouldn't comment, said I had to deal with DL.

The frustrating part is that my flight on Monday was cancelled because of delays (BOS -- weather) and re-booked for today. I've just checked in and had to pay baggage fees AGAIN for the same booking (I only have one bag this time)!

Daughter is VA Plat.
For a SLC-SEA on DL in January this year (ticket booked Oct 14) she was travelling with 7 others on the same PNR. Ticker was a deep discount so no included luggage. Because of her VA status, DL comped the entire travelling party of 8 free 2 pieces each. This is a published benefit.

Her ticket did show her status is "Velocity #########, Platinum Medallion Elite Plus"

She was a popular girl for the next few hours at least.

this is obtained from the Velocity Platinum benefits page:

"Delta Air Lines
Additional Checked Baggage Allowance - Receive the same allowance as Delta Gold Medallion members"

Did your ticket indicate your equivalent DL status.? If not the DL checkin agent cannot comp because their system wont allow it.

VA Silver should be same as DL Silver for baggage - one free 32kg bag in Y. But only if your ticket says You have Medallionand or elite status.

Occasionally you hit a DL city where they refuse to honour VA benefits and no amount of arguing or showing them a webpage convinces them otherwise. I get it often in Minneapolis which is a DL hub even. That said I don't know why you're paying twice for the same sector (unless I misunderstood).

I joined Delta at some stage and just booked some flights using that loyalty number. I'm VA Gold but that won't show up on my booking. I wonder if there's a way to change it to VA. Otherwise we're paying $US25 a bag. Got no status with DL.

You can change any FF number -just go into my trips in the Delta website

Do you remember if your boarding pass had your VFF number and equivalent Delta status on it. Should show something like "VFF #########"
"platinum Medallion Elite Plus"

However as you know comp baggage is equivalent to Deta Gold not Platinum

Go into that, edit passenger details, check you velocity number is correct and then simply save ... hopefully it will refresh ...

Well that was easy. Just went into my trip details and removed my Delta SkyMiles number then entered my Velocity number. Did that for two bookings. Now it shows me as "Gold Medallion. Elite Plus."

Thanks! That's saved me $US50. Once again AFF pays for itself!

Now even if it says Gold medallion your equivalent Delta status for baggage is actually Silver. And there is no upgrade possibility.
