Flight from MEL-ADL were scheduled to land 5 minutes before they departed.

DRW-KNX flights are always scheduled to land 15 mins before they land. But in my experience with people in Kununurra, they seem to work to Darwin time anyway.

Also my colleagues in Qld seem to all work to the same time as us southerners over summer anyway without the need for changing - they start and finish earlier than we do (in clock time) but same actual time. And I'm sure the Brisbane CBD/roads are much busier at 6am in summer than MEL CBD/roads at 6am.

I think it's a PITA to have BNE an hour behind the rest of the east coast. Also it makes it hard to keep up with Foxtel.

When I lived in Melbourne and had to cope with daylight savings time changes, it took me the whole hour that was gained at the end of the process just to change all the clocks in the house back to the real time!

I live in Qld and just work to the hours that suit me. In summer I am often up and working very early as it is the convenient time to do my work and gives me good timezone overlap with the people with whom I need to communicate. In winter I tend to find that overlap late at night.
Great if you are able. Unfortunately doesn't work for most people. At our work we use all the daylight hours in winter and in summer DST has some huge +ves and -ves for us.

I really don't care what time the clock says. I just do the things I do (work, leisure etc) when its convenient to do so.
As above.

I would be happy to change to Daylight Saving timezone in Qld, but I also have no problems with the status quo..
The reality is as NM states. It'll help some and be a pain in the b** for some. Just absolutely pathetic that the 'Pollytishans' are more worried about votes than about what is best for the country.

The biggest thing I like about not have daylight savings in Queensland is being able to use the confused cows and fading curtain arguments with Mexicans. They are always good for stirring the pot  .
Unfortunately a lot of Queenslanders still believe these arguments to be true.

While I was away this weekend proving my golf handicap is not a true representation of my (lack of) ability, mrs serfty was tasked with changing the clocks.

She did a fine job; but tonight I had to complete it. Amongst the few remaining were 2 Car Clocks ... 5 VCRs/Stereos ... two mobile 'phones & two thermometers

I don't know why we can't fall in line with rest of the eastern states and adopt daylight savings. Now my 7am flight to Sydney becomes a 6 am flight:( Not looking forward to having to be up at 4am for`the next few months so I can make the flight.
Come on Peter Beatie, at least let us have a vote on it.

You are aware that if you just go to bed an hour earlier and wake up an hour earlier, you will get the same result as having daylight savings?

It's just a mental thing. The plane will leave at the same point in time regardless. Whether your clock says 0500 or 0400 it's not forcing you to get up any earlier.

In fact, having daylight savings it's like having a government order for everybody to start work an hour earlier and to go to bed an hour earlier.

No reason to have daylight savings in Darwin. Considering how much further west than Brisbane we are, yet we are only 30 minutes behind, we have natural daylightsavings all year round.

Assuming by week you mean Sunday, those are the dates used in NZ (has been for some time).
Yes, assuming that daylight saving ends/starts on Sunday that is what I meant.

I have read somewhere that the plan is to extend daylight savings to 6 months a year in the eastern states. The closest I could find is this article.

The Border Morning Mail said:
VICTORIA, NSW, South Australia and the ACT are considering a proposal to adopt a common daylight timetable operating six months of the year.

The plan would extend daylight saving by 35 more days to bring them in line with Tasmania.

The new timetable would begin on the first Sunday in October and end on the first Sunday in April.

Mainland southeast Australian states usually run daylight saving from the last Sunday in October to the last Sunday in March — or the first Sunday in April as it was this year.

Had a situation during the Sydney Olympics when VIC & NSW, but not SA went to Daylight saving early.

Flight from MEL-ADL were scheduled to land 5 minutes before they departed. This caused some software I had to deal with to assume the flight time was 23:55.

Unless they've fixed it recently, try Jetstar International booking engine for flights to/from HNL ;)
