Those awake at 5:30am?

Was up at 530am for a 6am run yesterday... still outside on the back deck at 7pm... can't work out the problem??

Up at 6am, at work by 7am today.. gym after work. Play with the animals in the backyard after that... still can't work out the problem?? :D

We unequivocally experienced an hours extra daylight here in MEL yesterday - and how good was it? Saturday sunset was 18:27 - Sunday sunset was 19:27 - what's so confusing with this? How could anybody in their right mind argue we did not receive an extra hour of daylight?

So there was 10 hours of daylight on saturday and 11 hours of daylight on sunday? No? I didn't think so. Not sure how anyone in their right mind can argue there is extra daylight. Same daylight.

Everyone just gets up an hour earlier on Sunday. That's the other strange thing, how anyone can say they don't like to get up an hour earlier but they love daylight savings, which effectively makes them get up an hour earlier.

Yes I know. I can start 3 hours earlier and finish at 2:00pm instead. But that means I would need to go to sleep earlier.

Also if you want to do things with family or friends starting earlier doesn't help.

Nothing wrong with daylight saving. It's just a couple of bits of metal as you mention.

And it's just as simple to get up a hour earlier to milk the cows.

Did I say 3 hours earlier? No, I said 1 hour. Very simple to get up 1 hour earlier, go to work one hour earlier and then go and play silly buggers causing a ball around a paddock. This is precisely what you're doing with daylight savings - getting up one hour earlier. Why do you need a clock to tell you it is 6am instead of 5 am?

As for cows, again a clock is irrelevant. Farmers get up and milk the cows when the cows are ready, they work to the daylight. What a click tells them is irrelevant.

Yep, there is no extra hour on this list. 12:36 on Saturday and 12:38 on Sunday. No extra hour. Clearly it is confusing for those that think they have an extra hour. How about your curtains fading with all that extra sunlight?

That's why we have 2 sets of curtains LOL. But what about the cows?
Just kidding.

Because everyone is on the same clock with Daylight savings. I don't need to get up one hour earlier and have a different 24 hour clock to everyone else.

If you want to play golf with someone after work they don't have to get up 1 hour earlier either.

Or barbeque at 6:00pm and you have another 2-3 hours of light.

If you milk cows at 3:00am then with daylight savings you will milk cows at 4:00am. And get an extra hours sleep. LOL. What's the big deal. If it was hot at 8:00pm it will now be hot at 9:00pm. Big deal.

I don't see the argument against daylight savings. Everything is the same except the clock is showing 1 hour later.

Maybe we need a separate curtain fading thread. I mean, do they fade more on the eastern or western side of the house ?

They have automated cow milking machines now.

Clearly you don't understand daylight savings too well. If you milk cows at 3am you will still milk the cows at 3am just the clock will say 4am.

But if you always wake up at 8am then with daylight savings you are now getting up at 7am.

Except that if the clock says it's 4am, it's 4am, not 3am....

Saw these in action in Sweden last year, apparently the cows like them (don't know how they work that out, maybe they produce extra milk),
as they get milked when they want to be and not when the farmer says, ie in the early morning and late afternoon.
It's about the only way I'd be a dairy farmer. Not strictly related to daylight savings but be aware in Sweden that if you want to get up at 7:30am, don't tell the farmer "wake me at half seven".

Apparently the cows produce more milk because they are not stressed out being herded twice a day as it allows them choose when to be milked. Also read that cows that are named also produce more milk.
Only problem with the automated cow milking machine is the price. About 200k.

Nice of you to say I don't understand daylight savings.

You go to sleep one hour earlier and wake up one hour earlier. Everyone is doing it. Offices have adjusted to daylight savings. Shop trading hours have also adjusted to daylight savings. Public transport. Clubs. Pubs. Etc.

Now what was that about milking cows again?

Not 100% correct JK - whilst the coughies and the cows have come to terms with the concept of daylight saving indeed some cattle dogs employed on farms have not.

Now here is a little test regarding farm life for all you city slickers - which of the following breeds of cattle dogs are just too dumb to come to grips with the concept of daylight saving:
1. Kelpies
2. Border Collies
3. Queensland Heelers

LOL very funny ... unfortunately, very true :(

I'm loving daylight saving.. The fishing is fantastic!! You can literally get bites without too much bait..

So cattle dogs are the real reason for not having daylight savings?
