As far as Jim Brand's Remnants goes Jim Brand The Remnants Shiraz 2021 Ray Jordan gives it a 94, his description makes it sound a somewhat lighter and more elegant iteration of the grape (although it is from Coonawarra). $40 down to $14 sounds bloody good, might have to check it out myself...

Sam Brand is a nice young fellow and an astute marketer come winemaker. His wines are all good quality but his focus had been export to China and he has obviously been forced to drop his pants given the complete loss of that market to Australian wine.

Sam Brand is a nice young fellow and an astute marketer come winemaker. His wines are all good quality but his focus had been export to China and he has obviously been forced to drop his pants given the complete loss of that market to Australian wine.

I’ve had The Pursuit before and thought it was quite okay-ish, didn’t know about the Chinese market aspirations. I guess he’s had to join a long line of Australian producers who have had their fingers mildly scorched…
