Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

I grabbed some Cimicky wine from Grays auctions. (Cimicky is now in receivership/liquidation hence the sale)

Shiraz for about $27, Cab Sav 2018 for about $23 and Cab Sav 2017 for about $20 all delivered.

Now tired them all and I think they are genuine bargains. Very old school massive oaky plummy wines but well supported by the fruit and very well made wines. Originally sold for $90-$100 a bottle Cimicky Blackmoor Cabernet Sauvignon

The absolute stand out for me was the Cimicky Cab Sav 2018. The others are very good too.
Yes, if you don't mind a bit of oak, these are dead set bargains.
It seems to be finished now, but there was also on offer Cimicky Autograph Shiraz 2018 cleanskins at around $9-$12 pb delivered. The Autograph actually pipped the Blackmoor Shiraz 2018 in a set of 6 blind tasting.

If you are patient, there are still some bargains on Gray's. I've picked up 12xCape Barren Native Goose Shiraz 2018 for $10pb delivered (bonus under screwcap when listed as cork sealed) and a 6-pack of Bellevue Estate Shiraz 2021 for under $15pb delivered.

I got a couple of cheap Autograph packs too. I could not find them anymore. But preferred Blackmoor shiraz personally. Autograph was just massive!

Yeah, went to look for more Autograph last night after a friend tried it and wanted more - all gone, at least for now.

Autograph needs an hour or so in the decanter to show it's best, time for the oak to settle and fruit surface.

I bought 2 packs for myself and 1 pack for my sister. My sister returned 4 bottles to me as she could not drink it. I exchanged them for St Hallett Faith!

Dang it - I did know about one of these from asking earlier in the week...were they further discounted?

The one I knew is pack 8 was Fox Ma Muse Marlborough Pinot, with a Bass Philp Pinot thrown in.

For those who have purchased the 2019 Feathered Friends through Langton's, how does it stack up against the 2017 version? I thought the 2017 was a cracking wine, but have heard a few mixed reviews on the 2019?

The 2019 is still good, those that don't like the extract and alcohol too high might prefer it to the 2017. It's picked a little earlier, has less palate concentration and alcohol %, a slightly more restrained style than the hedonistic WDC style of the 2017.

Just snapped up a sixer of the Blackmoor 2018 at $146 all up including deliverey but just as the bids were closing noticed that in fact the vintage is mentioned a couple of times elsewhere as 2017, not sure how Cimicky fared in that cooler Barossa year, any insight appreciated...

I much preferred the 2017 (after leaving it for a few years).

The Blackmoor Cabernet 2018 listing shows 2017 in the body but I believe it is the 2018 that is delivered. If not you can always return it.

Did you grab Blackmoor Shiraz 2018? As there are three Blackmoors out there - 2018 Shiraz, 2018 CS and 2017 CS. Somehow as RB pointed out 2018 CS comes up in the link as 2017 but I can attest it is 2018. I liked both 2017 CS and 2018 CS. For my taste 2018 CS is just a stand out. I liked this wine the most out of 3 Blackmoors. But it is quite oaky but I didn't mind it at all.

I for think for me it is his razor-sharp analysis utilising pithy terms such as:
"This latest offering combines vibrancy with sensuality, and delivers loads of pleasing flavours"
"It’s fabulously ripe and perfumed on the nose"
"It’s sweetly fruited and inviting on the nose"
"Impressively ripe and instantly appealing"
"Beautifully ripe and inviting"
"It’s gorgeously ripe and enticing on the nose" and my personal favourite:
" ...it's juicy and finely flowing in the mouth delivering lively mouthfeel and crisp acidity"
But yes, there's always Black Doris Plums waiting somewhere in the wings 😐
This sounds like my wife just before we head off to a formal function as I give her my perfunctory approval.
It worries me whether Sam Kim is talking about wines from Thailand with his plums reference. Would be a surprise.

Maybe I missed reading the email until I saw the reminder this morning. Cellarone has 10% off site wide (for order >$250) which make the Houghton Jack Mann down to $76.5 which seems to be a good buy.

Need a bit of advice here:
Should I go for 6 bottles of 2018 Petaluma Evans Vineyard Cab Merlot for 38.8/bottle or 2022 Petaluma Hamlin Hill Riesling for 21.6/bottle?
Cheers
