Grinchy! I suppose it is the season... I found this quite interesting and I'm sure RB is not one bit hurt by others not sharing his tastes. Here's to free speech!
Back on topic, I did buy 3 bottles of Tsarine Champagne in a rare order from Dan Murphys, at the same $45 price as the last time I bought it in December 2020, making a total of 5 bottles of Champagne bought this year, the prices are stupid now. Actually the price was 10% less with the recent code.
The order on 20 November was split into supposedly 3 consignments.
Tracking for 1 lead to Aus Post, coming from a 3rd party, all Ok, notifications via My Post not DM.
Tracking for 2 lead to Endeavour, but no tracking info was available via the consignment number, only via the order number. Depending on the part of the info you look at it is delivered or out for delivery still. It was delivered via Aus Post. No notifications.
Tracking for 3 (2 items) showed an Endeavour consignment number and showed as delivered on the DM site, "In progress" on the Endeavour site. Online chat said that was because it had been handed to a third party for delivery, no further details available. One of the two items in the consignment arrived yesterday via Aus Post from a DM store with an Endeavour Delivery barcode number, no notifications. No sign of the second item. Online chat agent eventually told me it was coming via Fastway and I would get a notification. Not holding my breath.

Seems like their delivery logistics system is out of control.

Also sounds like they had to scrape it from all over the place. Lucky champers is immensely durable compared to fine red!

I think we are overdue for a mod hat to get us back on topic
To get back on topic of good deals and in light of the sparkling shiraz discussion, I thought that this little number that sells for $18 punches way above its weight.

I do enjoy sparkling shiraz, especially chilled on a warm summer day but can no longer justify buying Rockford Black shiraz when you can grab this Bleasdale sparkling shiraz for $18 or so. I thought that there wasn't much between them but then what would I know? It tasted damn fine to me.

I usually find Bleasdale a little sweet. Apparently the latest release is a little less so, but the last time I put it in a tasting earlier this year it was dead last in a flight of 6, behind Colonial Estate Explorateur (surprisingly good at$11, sold out now), De Bortoli Rutherglen Shiraz-Durif 2018 ($21), Reilly's Clare SS 2018 ($30), Black Queen 2016 ($35) and Wild Duck Creek ($59).

Rockford Black is quite variable, sometimes bretty, has had batches of poor corks in the past, like Basket Press I regard it as being of poor value now and for the past 5 years or more as the annual price increases despite vintage variations are not accompanied by commensurate quality.

If carpe diem was a thing it would be due to be on today... anyone know anything?
I called just now. Word is that carpe diem (as opposed to the open sale) was run last week. The nice lady said to me that while she originally understood they were going to keep it open to others in the know, they may now be restricting carpe diem access to staff only because they were getting such non-staff volumes that it was crashing the site... dang it!

Hmm, there was definitely an old-style scattered reductions sale on last Thursday, with the expected level of reductions for the usual 2-hour period. The carpediem site loaded with the default re-direct to Langtons. So unless there was another site created for those in the know I would be wary of that advice. I think someone would have heard of it and posted somewhere if there was a different new site.

That's highly positive news RB that it went through the carpe diem site (except of course that I was utterly wrong-footed by the old second last Thursday of the month move...).

Saw those, they didn't definitively say to me that this was the carpe diem thing...

You get 1 vote for every bottle of sparkling red in your cellar, +1 to allow for those with zero.
So you get 1 vote, I get about 200.

Yes, I know it's rigged, but it's my poll, my rules. :p
I’d add a vote 🗳️ for sparkling reds particularly vintage ones as opposed nv. I’ve had some magnificent aged verticals of seppelts and squid ink over the years. Teusner is great too. Good vintages age well and develop complexity. Best value nv I’ve picked up was st hallets at $15 a bottle. Vintage cellars a couple of years ago. I still have more of it and it’s a cracking sparkling red.
Shout out to Anderson too! Like their sparkling durif had a 2010 recently that was excellent.
@Bill Bosworth have to get the Canberra folk to start producing it!
