Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Have a look at the pic. Thick glass.

The wine itself - jury is still out. I opened one yesterday, it was a bit warm, and according to my wife, “spicy”. In the fridge overnight, back to room temp now and it’s going well with a pizza. It’s inoffensive, but I would have been disappointed if I had paid $20.

The light in the photo wasn’t great, here’s one with a different background. Thank the new iPhone.

Ok, I see your point! Two things spring to mind. Wine was stored upright for a lot of time or it was a late release and a newish cork put in it.

I have 12 bottles of 2018 Barossa .

This has an agglomerate cork with only very slight staining for 5 year old wine.

Wine itself was ok but nothing like the description when the supposedly same wine was sold by vinomofo. Medium red color, light body, very low tannins, zero oak and slightly sweet fruit but 15%abv.

Overall not unpleasant but a bit strange and different to what I would normally drink or expect from Barossa Shiraz.

How was the Coonawarra version ?
Cracked one of mine.
I agree with the medium colour but on the darker side. Medium to full body. I do get some tannins but no oak. I do get the rich plum fruit as the listing mentioned. Not going to do much better for 4 bucks. This is better as good as anything you'll find in a liquor store for 20 or less in my opinion.

All this talk of $4 bottles reminds me that I still have a few of those Uleyburys from late 2021. Those are fantastic and were $5 a bottle. Never had a better $5 bottle. But maybe these $4 bottles are better value!

Powell & Son Riverside Grenache - Mataro - Shiraz | Vivino - Free Shipping on Vivino, which makes the Powell & Sons offers pretty sharp.

I haven't tried the Blend Shiraz 2020, but the Grenache Blend is cracking value

The discount is stupid on this one too, and looks to be free shipping on a single bottle which is very odd

Vivino has a very strange mix of wines, way too many imports with made up RRPS for mine

WELCOMEAU10 for $10 for first time buyers and 14% cashback with Cashrewards.

First Choice is offering 3000 Fly Buys on a $50 spend today on selected products. Looks like Lion Nathan Beers and Wynns and Saltram/Pepperjack products.

I bundled with a 10% of voucher I had lying around and I grabbed a couple of bottles of Wynns Black Label Cab Sav 2013 at $40 (normally too much for me for this bottle) which brought it down to about $28.50 which I’m happy to pay for the age

I also noticed that Dans had 2013 and 2015 black label for those who might be on the look out for these vintages. Too expensive for me though at over $45 a bottle 😬

Dozen Deals has been posted by someone on OzB now, so if you're on the fence might want to order before it possibly goes OOS.

I've tasted the 2018 and it's very fruit forward. Nothing offensive, and easy to drink. Worth it for $4pb delivered. Fruit forward wines are not my thing (it's why I avoid low-to-medium end McLaren Vale wines, perhaps foolishly), so it's a quaffer for me or guests.

So interestingly I opened a 2018 last night and found it much better than the 2016
