Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Good for special occasion or just when you have many people over.

I have enjoyed their Shiraz and Grenache.
Plus being magnum, at least you know it will last much longer too.
Exactly.

Magnum should add 3-5 years on cellar potential.

You'd want to drink them within the next few years, especially the Grenache.

Thanks for your review! Got mine too. Will taste in a few days… and try to return if it is as bad as everyone think.
They acted very "we're doing you a favour" in agreeing to take my return (policy says no returns on mystery wines). I might have kept them if I'd only bought six but I bought a dozen as I was taken in by the write up and the rep of the winery! Grist for my mill that the marketing was apt to mislead I suppose...

Maretti Langhe Rosso at $5 is great value, and good wine
Petaluma is probably the best at $5

Maretti is good value, it sells for $8aud in Italy tho.

Peter Lehmann Portrait Cabernet Sauvignon got 97 pts at a wine show

Gomersal Shiraz has A few 90 point ratings including 89 from Mike Bennie

Plus airfare tho
It's just what I saw on 1 website, but it's difficult to find in Europe for sale through Google.

It could sell for more there, 8-12€

Unfortunately none in SA, and no Petaluma here either.

I made an order, 3 shipments from WA.

There seems to be a "general consensus" on here that Curtis reds are over-priced and over-hyped, the only ones I've tried have been in both categories unfortunately. I know that a few peeps have found them OK especially once discounted, caveat emptor my friend...
Small Batch Grenache sold out at Winestar when it was $15, it got very positive feedback.

These Small Batch wines are their top end, I don't think I've seen any feedback on this particular style.

96pts Sam Kim, 94pts Kim Brebach, 92pts James Halliday

I've had a Curtis Family Vineyard Shiraz before which purportedly retailed for around a hundred bucks a number of years back (might have been from the Wine Collective or My Wine Guy, can't remember) and took it along a Xmas lunch and was embarrassed at how "average" it was, should have taken a back-up bottle but there you go... The Small Batch range might well be great but once bitten twice shy in my case...

Stay away from the Katnook Winemakers Edition on Liquorland clearance. Both are very tannic, and drink like a $2.50 bottle. very disappointing from the Katnook name.
The Peter Lehmann $5 Cab Sauv is completely different to the Katnook- especially if you decant and leave it for 90 mins. Very quaffable stuff.
