Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Broker deal I received today.

2019 PENLEY ESTATE Eos Shiraz
Cabernet Coonawarra
$40/btl $240/6pk
RRP $100/btl $600/6pk

95 pts Erin Larkin, Wine Companion "Matured for 18 months in French oak (40% new). Like all the Penley reds submitted this year, this is vibrant and bright on the nose. Brambly blackberries, mulberries and fresh garden mint adorn the aromas, while in the mouth, the acidity swooshes in and out of each of the flavours, enlivening them and making way for the fine tannins: the carriage upon which the experience rides across the mouth. A modern, concentrated take on the classical Australian blend".

Orders over $300 are free freight

CD has the Penfolds Wildcard today. Down from $70 to $20 for the Penfolds cellar reserve Sangiovese 2017. Anyone tried this and is it worth to buy?

Tasting Profile

NOSE

Exotic smoked cod (not anchovy) and wilted cavil nero aromas abound. No new oak, yet captivating impressions of cedar and French oak polish. A tapenade of sun-dried tomatoes, olives - very Sangiovese profile. Substantial.

PALATE

Savoury, with a tempting nori (seaweedy) presence. A mouth-watering acidity courting firm yet ripe tannins … and artichoke/capsicum/caper/olive paste flavours. A long and wide palate.

Are you sure that is what it is? Penfolds Cellar Reserve Sangiovese RRP is $85 and the 16 vintage

Edit - the Tempranillo is $70 and the 17 vintage

But the Tempranillo is listed as McLaren Vale...

I think TWE is trying to get rid of those wines couldn't be sold good in local market

JD Secret Wine #480 down from $150 to $64.99 is Hewiston Monopole Shiraz Mother Vine 2018 (JS98, JH97, RJ96, AC96).

Anyone tried this wine, thoughts?
I enjoyed the 2013 Hewitson The Mother Vine that I picked up from VM for $26 bottle - I went looking for more and was advise it had been re-labelled as Monopole. (dont know if its accurate though)

I've tried this from TWC, same price. Went back for a few more after trying one. Big heavy bottle, cork seal, USA back label. It's a fair step up in concentration and oak treatment compared to those bargain 2012/2013 Mother Vines.

Relabel seems to be the case. (Still referred to as Mothervine by JS)

Hewitson Monopole Mothervine Shiraz 2018
This has some ripe redcurrant and plum-pastry aromas with an edge of camphor, violets and blueberries. Sappy aromas with hints of tar, iodine and bergamot, too. There’s a very intense core of dark-plum flavor, as well as a band of chocolate fondant. Smooth-honed and very intense. As suave as it is powerful. Drink over the next two decades.

Just a warning to those using the referral program of the TWC. It seems they counted the minimum spend of $100 is the amount after the $50 voucher. Their promotion is misleading and very disappointed.
Yeah. Total spend $100 to get the $50 off for purchaser. Total spend $150 (net $100) to get referal credit.

Thanks but I meant their promotion was misleading and I am unhappy with their decision.
