Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

2017 Twisted Trunk was definitely screw cap. Bought twice from GWD. I was surprised too it came in s/c because prior vintages were in cork.

You might have got the premium ones if you got cork. Maybe diff markets.
It just be one hell of a cork, for $15 extra 😆

I got the Twisted Trunk 2017 through GWD. I think it was closer to 2 years ago
Yes, I checked the thread. $20, vs supposed RRP $80, but all the bottles were labelled Shiraz and not the Reserve Shiraz.
[Edit: I just checked the Glen Eldon website - RRP for the 2017 is $150, and the label says Shiraz (not reserve). The Dry Bore is RRP $50]

I got this one too back then. $20 is the correct price for this wine, all the other RRPs are just ridiculous.

Weird business... and halliday rated the 2013 98pts and gave it a good value star at $120! It's hard to know what gives here... probs best rest it for a few years then enjoy drinking it.

Maybe they had a good vintage once. I’ve only tried the 2017 and it’s a decent midweek quaffer. Couldn’t identify anything special that would make it a premium Shiraz.

Just checked my records and I've had the twisted Trunk 2006 and 2013 around 10 years from release and rated them both above average. They were labeled as reserve. I've not had the 2017 but I see it doesn't say reserve if that means anything. Might be a China export wine. They do (or did?) export to China.

100% export wine. Hence the ridiculous RRP and massive “discount” to sell domestically because China decided they had enough ripoff priced Aussie wine (and they also don’t like us now).
