Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Anything is possible, but TWC usually indicate Eden explicitly on mystery wines and Langmeil is very unlikely as they "never" do this sort of discounting.
I've grabbed a couple. Probably tricked into some non-amazing made for China inflated rrp stuff again, but at least I'll be in good company hey RB?

And I agree, the shifty wording suggests it isn't halliday that gave it 98, he is just attributed having given it a 'significant score'...

Yeah, worth a punt on this one I think. If TWC haven't gilded the lily too much it should be something reasonable or even an outstanding bargain.
Would love to pin it down now, but those details sure are scanty, and given you haven't I figure a mortal such as I has no hope!!

Not this vintage. In the blurb "likes of Halliday an company, including 98pts just a few years back"
Rereading this, Halliday has previously reviewed but the 98 likely came from somewhere else.. *cough* SK

Closest I could get is something from Hewitson, Poonawatta or Turkey Flat

Checked Sam Kim's site for Barossa, Barossa Valley, Eden Valley, nearest match would be Ch Tanunda 100 yo vines.
Hewitson 1853 vines for the Monopole, Poonawatta 1880, TF unlikely.
Teusner FG is a possible too, but no info I can find on source vineyard age.

is there anything else worth adding to the two bottles in my cart?

Looks likely (maybe) to be the Ch Tanunda SK gave it 98 points for V16.
Sourced from two vineyards: 1 in Barossa Valley, 1 in Eden Valley.

While researching I came across a list of source vineyards. Worth a read for anyone interested.

The source report states that the OUTLAW VINEYARD (planted 1890) fruit has been sold to Chateau Tanunda for their 100-year-old Shiraz label.

Nice list of vineyards, thanks.
TWC blurb seems to indicate single vineyard.

Hi all, am flying overseas tomorrow and considering buying some wines duty free in Singapore Changi on the way back. Haven’t done this before and wondering if the prices are a good deal there? Will be looking for French and maybe Italian reds. Any tips or advice?

My biggest concern would be the lack of sales in the last few years. So how long have the bottles been sitting there in sub-optimal conditions?

I just took a big swing on the assumption it's the Teusner FG.

Compare the TWC description vs RIGHTEOUS ‘FG’ SHIRAZ 2017 | Teusner where I see a few similarities.

Also the 2017 Tuesner FG is currently available to purchase on the TWC website.

Vivino score is up there too.

Some similarities there but also plenty diffs, and no sign of a 98pt I can find. The FG sure sounds yum tho...

Seems like there's a good chance of a surprise. How exciting!

I’ve got 2 in my cart and betting on the Tanunda so haven’t boomed yet until it’s confirmed ;-)

I expect you're right there on the Tanunda... I can't see any express mention of single vineyard (and any implication of it could well be just TWC loose/tricksy wording) Plenty other things line up.

I was just about to grab a couple more to avoid disappointment in the event that it's a gem, but it's now coming up sold out... And then I hear you say you've got them stashed in your cart!
