Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

My thought was that they were new corks. There was no hint of any colour passing into the cork. You would think as they have been in for 5 yearsish it should show some colour. As you say pretty average quality. Surely they wouldn't go to the trouble of replacing corks. Does anybody know whether the real signature has an embossed Signature cork. The one bottle I have opened I was very happy with, Signature or not.

Grey Label 12 judging by a review on Dan's is better than alot of wines. No stock in SA.

Penfolds St Henri 14 should be around $63-64 after discounts.

Wynn's Black Label 15/34 . 12/33 before discounts

Based on this I've bought alot of 12/15 in the past as they seem to be the highest ranked years.

Being a WOODS CRAMPTON fan the above is excellent value @ $84/6. Much improved after 24hrs, (1/2 glass out to increase ullage and a quick shake will work nicely at some stage).
At first opening very "earthy" to the nose and similiar in the mouth but given the time develops to something quite tasty.
Typical W&C, bit different but patience is rewarded. :)
Agree that this is a great buy. A bit more savoury than expected, but some good bold fruit. Yet to have a bad Woods Crampton.

Picked up 2 bottles of Struie for $32 ea from First Choice - trying to focus on what I like rather than the best bargain

This should go without saying. I sincerely hope everyone here buy only what they like. No point getting a “bargain” which doesn’t bring any joy drinking it, especially when there are so many bargains to choose from lately that will fit almost any palate.

Cellar Door promo 6 bottles of Max and a bottle of 389 for $180

Assuming fair value of $60 for the 389, this values Max at $20 which isn't too bad for those that like the brand

I actually like Merlot, however I didn't buy these.

I grabbed a couple for for $29 from BWS, plus the 20%+10%+10%. It's a good wine!

Absolutely, I feel if you do drink a few bottles a week those sorts of deals may benefit you. Other than being on a super strict budget, which some are. I believe it's a Woolworths brand, and not bad.
Probably good for a BBQ 🤣
