Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Had read of the Wild Duck/Whistling Eagle involvement and ordered case (6) on spec., should be here early next week.
Just ordered another 6 on the price reduction. (DM wouldn't take 2 x cases in the check out in one transaction if yr looking to pick up more than one case.)
The pedigree looks OK, anyone tried it ?

I know people are a little tired of this one but this was a funny biz - I called GWD just now to return a few of the 'Signature' I'd bought, and they said it was a shame I didn't like it as it was a $65 wine. I pressed for more details and they said they didn't have any they could part with...
No issues then with the return? I'm probably going to do the same. I tried last night and wasnt a fan. Barely any fruit and little to no length. I have however decanted overnight and will give it one more go today. I wonder can you return directly to store.

They send a courier to collect. All seems damn easy. They encourage you to try one bottle per six. I am still in two minds about sending back. I quite liked the first few glasses (with some nice cheese) and wonder if all the talk had me searching for flaws!

Only one bottle left for delivery it seems

Managed to pickup a bottle of Eileen Hardy from Fulham BWS here in Adelaide, was a 16. All gone now.

BWS pricing is woeful, most of the time their sale price is higher than Dan's regular pricing.

You better be quick K LOL
(Better be better than the odd Zilzie)
There was one left in my local store too so I ordered it for collect, then got a call to tell me they didn’t have any but I had to come into the store to get a refund (I was nearly there anyway). After getting the refund and going home I got an email saying my order is ready to be collected...

Taking a leaf out of the Coles book. BWS are usually much better with stock numbers online

The 'one bottle per six' comment is interesting. Potentially an entire export shipment of multiple grades of wine are being cleared through this deal (i.e. some are Export Signature and others closer to 50% off)?

I enjoyed my first bottle, which tasted somewhere between a Giant Steps Harry's Monster (~$55) and a Cullen Diana Madeline (~$120).

Or possibly the GWD guy was trying to rule out a bad cork or heat damage to one of the cases in transit

Cork from the cleanskin signature. Looks poor quality, hard to see this cellaring for the long term. The wine was fine though, restrained and well balanced as you'd expect.

My thought was that they were new corks. There was no hint of any colour passing into the cork. You would think as they have been in for 5 yearsish it should show some colour. As you say pretty average quality. Surely they wouldn't go to the trouble of replacing corks. Does anybody know whether the real signature has an embossed Signature cork. The one bottle I have opened I was very happy with, Signature or not.

My order is enroute from NEW TOWN, TAS, think they still have some FF's in stock there.
