Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

I just noticed this posted on tWF

The 2012 Brookman Merlot is $9.90 at Dans, will take redbigot’s advice and leave it alone.

@redbigot 's post on tWF that I assume is being referred to:

There have been a lot of older CH wines being sold through various Woolies arms, Dan Murphy Secret Selections, 2013/2014 most recently. I don’t know of the provenance of these wines, but some of them are not in good condition and I and some of my subscribers have sent some back for refunds.
Was a bit concerned about this so last night I opened another bottle of CH Merlot 2012. Took off the tightly wrapped aluminium foil that revealed the wine is almost upto the cork (see the attachments). Pulled the cork out (it had a great deal of resistance and came out with a pop). Cork seemed in a almost ew condition. Out of interest tried a bit right away and it is almost undrinkable - very tannic and green. Left it alone, prep a dinner and did a bbq and came back to in one hour and it made a profound difference, two hours later it was magnificent. Not sure when it peaked as we polished it off pretty quick after that! It felt as though it was 2-3 years old, still a lot of firm tannins, fresh fruit on the palate and long finish. Very well balanced with just enough acidity to deal with dryness without overdoing it. I think it can be cellared for another 4-5 years.

Maybe it was a luck of a draw and I was lucky so far, but so far I didn't find any spoiled bottled of both CH Shiraz and Merlot I bought at DM.

Your wish came true! 20% cashback at BWS starting 9am via Cashrewards ($25 cap)

Stack with

and 10% off 6 or more bottles
I know its not wine... but Lagavulin 16 just dropped to $106.40 on clearance here, with the discounts, and my 1000 reward points offer it brought it back to $65
Does Little Birdy stack ok with Cashrewards?
They have tracked for me so far on FC and CM, have to wait to see if they clear though I suppose

Exactly what I was waiting for.

Be sure to check your WW Rewards pts app, I had spend $60 get 800 pts at BWS sitting there to boost.

I'm unsure if the 6+ bottles works tho, I tested it out yesterday.

It gives the $20 off, however I didn't see any extra 10% discount for 7 bottles of wine. I believe the promotion doesn't stack with any other promotion.

I'll finally check out and see what it does now with the CB.

It does - the discount is applied at the item level not at the total.
Double check your invoice and price paid per bottle

Tempted with the BWS offer to just grab a $120 bottle of the Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier, which comes down to $100 with BWS's discount and then should hit $80 or $82 after cashrewards. Pretty rarely discounted wine and a great price for something to go away for 10 years as a special occasion wine.
It was noted on this thread (apologies can’t find the reference to give credit) that some stores have Clonakilla SV down to $102. May be worth looking at stores nearby to see if you can take advantage.
$102 less $15 from BWS Easter promo less 20% CB which tracked for me at $20.40

Total price = $66.60 😀😀😀

haven't been able to find any in VIC unfortunately

EJ Carr at Vintage Cellars $200 reduced to $45. Got in this quick they have disabled purchasing online but it still scans in store

There's a store 10 minutes from me, so I'm going to swing by.
Do you think it's worth calling?

---

My BWS order.
Wild Grace Sauvignon Blanc.
Guillaume Gonnet Bel Ami Chateauneuf Du Pape.
Murphy Goode Liars Dice Zinfandel X 3
Giesen The Brothers Sauvignon Blanc
Domabe Wachau Terrassen Federspiel Gruner Veltliner.

$112 + 800 bonus pts + 20% CB. I'm guessing around $90 in total.

I have a 35 minute drive for pick up, everything was 50% clearance.

Unfortunately the 2 Sav Blancs weren't in stock, and he swapped them for Squealing Pigs. Dan's has them for $13-14, so even tho I got the extra discount and probably only paid $9-10 a bottle it definitely ain't as good as $20-24

Hey lucluc I heard you were trying to abstain from more alcohol purchases.

How is that going
Ha ha, actually I've been really good. It's hard to pass up on some of these deals tho 😁

EJ CARR, I rang 2 Vintage Cellars stores(SA) and 1 store said he had a note that it was a price error from Melbourne. I'm not sure if he was playing me, but he was like I'd love to try it for that price and we don't even have it in stock.

I told him it can be had for $85-88 on Dan's via delivery only and he seemed really happy about that😂😂😂

Ohwell

Cheers for the suggestion. Grabbed one from my local.

Ordered half doz online for delivery to my MEL address (no stock in QLD). Not holding my breath for this order to be fulfilled, tried to PM with Dan’s over the phone but they refused saying it’s a clearance item.
