Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Its good when you have credits but the prices have gone up quite a bit recently imo. The Blackwell was under $25 last year from memory and now its touching $30.

I picked up 6 recently though. At under $25 its a bargain. They need put away for a few years though

I have some '15 and some '16. Tried the '15 last year and the '16 last month. Both very approachable but will benefit from more cellar time. Agree prices are creeping up too.

From Cannington WA, 3 x 2017, 2 x 2016, and a 2012 Black Label. Was hoping for a later vintage of Black but that's the only vintage they have in stock.
I got the 2012 black label also. 97 JH and 4.3 on Vivino I would have thought it to be decent? The Gray labels were all '16, I was sort of hoping for the '17

Why the 17? I had 5 2015's and I asked to swap it to one of the 17s as I seen that on the shelf also. Just for a bit of variety. Curious on the 17. My Black label was 2014

Purely based on higher rated vintage in the Vale, and a few slightly higher reviews around the place. Both stores here only had 2016, even the new stock that arrived today.

Dan Murphy Bankstown (NSW) has wines on clearance in trolleys at the front. Not much left but I saw:
  • Cirillo Shiraz $15
  • Battle of Bosworth Cab Sav $12
  • Bests Great Western Bin No 1. Shiraz $12
  • Jacobs Creek Barossa Signature Cab Sav $7
  • Kay Brothers Amery Hillside Shiraz $25
  • Rymill Coonawarra Shiraz $13
  • Grant Burge Balthasar Shiraz $20
  • Kilikanoon Covenant Shiraz $20

Picked up the last bottle of Mount Mary from recent price match. Was hoping to add the 2015 (regarded as their best vintage) to my new little collection. My local DM store manager was able to find and order one but in true DM fashion the 2014 arrived instead :D not that I’m complaining, happy to take anything :)

Wow - so all of these were $60 each, including one ordered in especially for you?

A couple of reasonable DM's deals on Sauternes atm that are tempting. 2008 Suduriat 375ml for $49 is pretty decent

Most of have been on offer since last month, though a few seem to have been recently added

note that this is the first time in years that Penfolds wines have not been excluded from a CellarDoor.co promotion - makes Penfolds Grandfather Rare Tawny $55 :)

also 2015/2016 Penfolds St Henri for $79.90 after $20 off ($63.64 at Cellarmasters last September)

a week ago I saw there is coldstream Deer Farm Pinot 18 in cellardoor, but now it's gone. why is taken off from the website? if sold out it should be have a "sold out" tag.

usually rather than marked sold out, wines are taken off (and do not reappear)

Booo! So I narrowly missed the window? Is it much good?

for me in general, the cheapest for Coldstream Hills and Seppelt, sometimes good prices on Wynns and Devil's Lair, occasional museum releases and imports (plus rare ultra-premium Penfolds)

Dang! As discussed, I'd love a referral for Cellardoor.co if anyone can do one...

If they're closed now I'd be grateful for you guys to keep an eye out for reopening.

Them's good deals. I went to a local DM today and there was nothing cheap at all. Left with one can of beer! The end of EOFY frenzy. Was fun.

Even though it’s my closest store I steer clear of it but I dropped in to DM in Double Bay this weekend hoping that with their large range of champagne they might have some EOFY specials unique to that store. Absolutely nothing on sale.
Perhaps I was a bit naive...I figured out their mentality must be why put on sale things in a suburb where price isn’t the focal point of any purchase.

I did like some of their late harvest stuff when visiting their cellar door, so happy to take a punt.
