Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Just ordered from the Carboot sale (before it disappeared off the screen):
Can't argue with the pricing that's for sure ;)
I grabbed some bottles I've wanted to try but wasn't prepared to drop full price on spec.
Worth a go at 50% off though

Bought the Jim Barry PB cabernet shiraz. Came to 250. Minus $100 black Friday and $100 gift card. Paid $50 cash.

18% shopback tracked at 6.54. Any ideas why it tracked so low?

Got a response from Shopback. The 18% is calculated on the amount AFTER gift cards and discount codes.
So basically its 18% on $50 minus GST (45.45) which is $8.18

Did anyone else get the 18% tracked on the full amount of their order?

What are you seeing to indicate this.

On the shopback site I see:

"Cashback not payable when used in conjunction with payment by Groupon Cellarmasters vouchers or other third party promotional vouchers."

This doesn't preclude WISH cards.

This has always been the case, but was often not applied.

But it's actually worse now than it has been before. I note:

"Cashback will be calculated based on Purchase amount after Discount & Giftcard Usage"

I do note that 'giftcard usage' is new and an extreme warning for people if they are using a WISH card for their entire order.

I would never use Shopback for cellarmasters ever again based on this. And I'll be checking if these terms have also been applied to other sites like Dan Murphy's etc.

I note that cashrewards encourages you to use a gift card:

I was referring to the Giftcard Usage you highlighted, which is in their very fine print (and was not previously the case), but I worded it poorly. Effectively, if you use a gift to pay in full, like I did, cashback is not applicable. The way they've worded it leaves a lot to be desired.

Lesson learnt though.

what I hate about thee things , is that they just keep on cutting and cutting and reducing,

other retailers including woolworths now you are not allowed to use even $0.01 gift card, or else the entire cashback is void , which is stupid and unfair, as the shopback company will still get their comissions,

am surprised that dan murphys still allows GC to be used for cashback to be valid, but hey it will only be a matter of time

Based on recent comments by a couple of long time members (qaz and Dr Ralph), it looks like CM not paying cash back on amounts paid with gift cards is very new.

Seems to be both Shopback and Cashrewards. I Just checked cashrewards, and even though they encourage gift cards still, this is now in the Cellarmasters 'Cashback Tips'

You may not be eligible for Cashback:

  • If a gift card is purchased or used as payment.

I went through cashrewards this time specifically because of my lack of confidence in ShopBack, despite the lower rate (14% vs 18%). I hope cashrewards don't say use that as an excuse for me, it literally suggests you use a woolworths Gift card underneath:

Not you!!!!

@baragh, who seems to have played the safer option with CR.

I reckon I've pushed my luck too far, picked up half dozen 389s at CMs with 30% discount. Breaches three terms:
No use of unlisted promo codes.
No use of gift card as payment.
No Penfolds or Champagne.
😂 😂 😂

Unfortunately it didn't track, so now have to wait out the 7 days before querying it. Fingers crossed, I took screenshots of the coupon on cashrewards site, expecting that I would have to follow it up.

I don't like your chances of getting that ShopBack sleepy!

Looks like this is: 2017 Auld Family Wines Strawbridge Shiraz

Anyone tried it? If so, it is a good deal for the price ($17)?

Got classed as a "maybe" here:

Interested to hear your impressions of the Carboot offerings as I looked at most of the ones you purchased, annoyed with myself that I somehow missed the Mouton Cadet Reserve as I love a good Sauternes....

Does anyone know why Pirramimma wines are being flogged off so aggressively by Gray's and various discount wine sites?

VPS - had a look thru Dans and Vivino, two wines checked, only 3 x reviews would come up for each, each review was a one liner to attract a 3.9 and a 3.8 score there.
Seems "marketing" ???. campaign, could be good wine, hope so!
Dans advertises it @ $40, but has none on shelf so you can't price match it in store, all a little "funny".
Jczer000 - Skye has Pirramimma wines also in its SPECIALS @ $180/doz.

This has been going on for several years. It appears the model Pirramimma has taken on. I thought it may have been temporary but this appears not to be the case. Buy at cheap prices is my advice. I am a fan of their wines.

In store have recently picked up some bargains at Dan Murphys. I often used to wonder why they flogged off some select bottles as "clearance" in in store. many of these products (wine - not other stuff) is simply because they can no longer get stock - "end of barrel' - and thus they need to free shelf space for other things. Nothing wrong at all with the wine involved ;)
