The same code can be used for Lindemans Pyrus Coonawarra Cabernet Blend 2012, same price as the Veuve with code and cashback.

Now don't crucify me if I get this wrong as I am new to the Coles Flybuys thing, but maybe this is good for another % off. Coles just emailed with an offer to purchase a $100 reusable Mastercard with 2,000 bonus points for the effort. That equates to $10 of your shop or 10% off the card. Sign on via Pricepal and the offer is $10 cashback (Get $10 off your first grocery order with Coles Online when you spend $100+ and use Click & Collect) So that is $20 all up. You can then use your new Mastercard to buy your Wishcard. Nothing stopping you from buying cards under different names.

$10 fee on application for the Mastercard, iirc

Thanks for pointing that out. I looked for a fee but didn't see it. Admittedly I did not go as far as the application page.
Oh well, it's revenue neutral but still good for $10 cashback from Pricepal.

I guess Moët will be the NYE tipple seeing DM has it at $88 for two less the three usuals of rebate ,discount and free delivery.

The reviews of the Penley are abysmal though.

what due talkin' about willis?

I guess you refer to these reviews below DMnz that I found.

I think I agree with you.

However what I wanted to find, but didn't in these reviews was criticism. If JH gave it a 91, you wouldn't know or think differently. I guess the minimalist review is very faint praise for this one otherwise he would have to be more gloating. I really wanted a statement that talked of un balanaced, too early now, not intergrated. But like the motor car writing journos, they are playing it a little safe.

A shame in a way as the deal with discount is a beauty......however, as a quaffer based on the below reviews, it's probably not too bad. I had a 2004 in the last year and that was a really nice one.

So there you have it - except that the wine does have a future."

Mike Bennie: 86

Cedary, clovey oak character over dark berry fruits, shows some peppery spice, graphite and earth.
Fleshy textured wine finishes short and with very lemony acidity and saltiness. Cinches up quickly. Not a lot of pleasure.

Honestly I dont even know if James Halliday even tastes the wines anymore. All of his notes are just fluff.

Not sure how many of you use Vivino - but when I am not sure, I tend to get (an averaged) second opinion from the collective reviews:

http://www.vivino.com/wines/9283039

When I read the Vivino reviews now, I can see similar themes coming out that suggest JH and others are fairly close to the mark (although JH appears to make what sounds like a fairly herbaceous, tart ending wine sound pretty good!).

So from 25 reviews, the Penley 13 Cab scores 3.5 out of 5. That's not too bad, but you'll just have to take it on notice that you'll be drinking something that's a bit drying, herbaceous and medium bodied. It won't be for everyone, but there are enough people (everyday drinkers like you and me) that seem to think it's not bad.

Would I buy it based on the 4/5 expert reviews above and the collective 3.5 score? Nope. I would rather drink something that is more likely to get me excited and pay a bit more. But each to their own, I guess ...!
