Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Anyone had any experience with My Wine Guy?

Anyone had any experiences dealing with these guys?

I placed an order on 30th August, of which I've received half so far (1 out of 2 cases). They don't appear to answer their phone number or reply to emails, and they also don't have courier tracking details on their website. Not exactly confidence inspiring unfortunately. I'm hoping my experience is a one-off and not run-of-the-mill.

Try emailing help@ instead of sales@.. I had a delayed order (which all turned up in the end) and Simon was very helpful. I agree, however, not as slick and quick as the other players. Nice wine though!

Thanks - will try again. I emailed them on 11th September (help@...), but no response so far :(

What's outstanding AC?

I have three cases paid for and undelivered. And they are big ticket items. I am now (a little bit) worried, based on your experience, although mine are more recent purchases.

I too have found Simon very helpful when I have been emailing him, but that's on the purchasing front not the tricky customer service issues (which are just as important if he wants to build purchaser loyalty).

I assumed his long lead times were to gain enough orders to place a big enough bulk purchase to get the discount he had promised and to pass that through and take his cut. Maybe he's not getting the numbers straight off that he had hoped. Maybe he's having trouble with suppliers or logistics companies. All usual teething problems with a brand new online retail business. Simon ought to keep you in the loop even if not good news on the lead time of your second case. Otherwise, his would-be buyers like us will lose confidence in his business and stick to the big guns.

It's probably been mentioned before, My Wine Guy (formerly My Wine Companion) is an offshoot of Cracka Wines, not the greatest model of customer service there either.

But Simon is usually your best bet for getting a response, at least in my experience, although I seldom deal with Cracka or MWG.

Simon replied today, though his response didn't inspire confidence: Package probably misplaced, he'll get another one sent out. Given it was sent via courier, it should be relatively easy to give me a tracking number to see what happened. Anyways I'll give it another week and see what happens.

MyWineGuys where independant, though they ran into financial difficulties and were acquired by Cracka Wines recently. At less one of my boxes was dispatched from Cracka's warehouse, so it may just be issues coordinating Simon's systems with Cracka's systems. Who knows, but the whole experience doesn't leave a good taste in my mouth. Given you can get timely responses via email or phone from DM/VM etc. why bother with this outfit?

My Wine Guy changed from My Wine Companion early August I think. My Wine Companion was always operated by Cracka.
Simon worked for Cracka for a long time, I just checked my old emails and I still have one from him at Cracka from early 2013.

They changed couriers recently and had some troubles (maybe still ongoing) integrating the Cracka systems with the new courier's systems, or that was the story I got when delivery was delayed in my only order there in the last 6 months.

My apologies - you are correct. It was Wine Growers Direct that was acquired by Cracka recently, not MyWineGuy. I'm getting confused between all these brands with 'wine' in their name.

The Alpha Crucis wines are sometimes available from Wine Direct and elsewhere at half the $95 RRP or less, good wines, reasonable value at $45, definitely not worth the fanciful $95.

The Irvine Merlots aren't your Bordeaux style, coming in at 15.3% and 16% alcohol according to Halliday TNs, but I've not tried either of those vintages.

I think this is a good deal, but alas I've already spent too much on wine this month.

Mystery Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 (6 Bottles)

Pretty sure it's the Parker Coonawarra First Estate Cab Sav - for under 60 bucks a bottle it's a bargain! Delicious drop.

Have a look at the earlier messages where this was discussed and revealed.

Could this be a(nother) Parker being sold by another Woolworths concern as a Mystery box? I'm getting Parker First Growth, as the alc %, RRP, Halliday Rating and Langtons is adding up. I just wish there was a 20% code hanging around somewhere...

Agree it's the Parker.

A little off the wine topic .... but it looks like Dan's has price matched (or just undercut) Aldi on their Cognac.
Courvoisier XO Cognac - $88.95 delivery only offer - but compared to it's usual retail price of $129.99 it's the cheapest I've seen it for a long time.

Not exactly wine... But I note that Costco Casula has the Patron Cafe Dark for $49ish. It's $85ish at dans
